The
college football betting app
is growing in popularity, so we thought we’d help you narrow down the market by taking a deeper dive into five of the best.
BetMGM – deposit and bet with $10, you can get $150
BetMGM Pros & Cons
- Wide variety of betting options
- User-friendly mobile app interface
- Generous promotions for new users
- Extensive selection of casino games
- Limited availability in some states
BetMGM are currently the official sponsor of Major League Baseball, but fear not, football fans – they’re big on the NFL and NCAAF as well! They offer futures markets (such as the National Championship winner) as well as a bunch of pre-match and live bets for college football. Markets include moneylines and handicap spreads, as well as point totals, and it’s good to see that they’re posted well in advance of the fixtures taking place.
BetMGM have a sportsbook app as well as a website and, better yet, if you download the app and deposit and bet with $10, you can get $150 in bonus bets if that first wager wins. On top of this, they also offer a selection of other promotions, including an ‘any sport parlay boost token’, which is a great option for your
college football parlay bets.
Both the website and the app work well, provided you don’t mind a dark background, and we were able to quickly and easily find our way around the college football section.
DraftKings – spend $5 get $150 of sportsbook bonuses
DraftKings Pros & Cons
- Extensive daily fantasy integration
- Frequent promotions and bonus offers
- Highly competitive betting odds
- Wide variety of casino games
- High rollover requirements on bonuses
DraftKings was one of the first big players in the modern-day US sportsbook scene, and so, as you would expect, they offer a great selection of betting markets, including college football live betting. Their futures section is extremely well stocked, with special bets available involving the individual teams, such as the number of regular season wins, as well as match bets e.g. Alabama or Clemson to have the most regular season wins and, of course, overall tournament winner bets.
They also have a really helpful stats section for each match, which contains both pre-match and live information after games go in-play. This would definitely come in handy when it comes to developing a college football live betting strategy.
The DraftKings welcome offer is a pretty exciting one, with a spend $5 get $150 of sportsbook bonuses promotion up for grabs. They also have several offers which may be of interest to college football fans, including a 30% ‘profit boost’ on NFL Fast Futures bets.
They have an app dedicated to the sportsbook, in addition to the website, and we found that both platforms were quick and easy to use. All in all, DraftKings is a great college football option and also among the
top NCAA basketball betting sites.
FanDuel – get up to $1,000 in Bet Reset Tokens
FanDuel Pros & Cons
- Seamless integration of sportsbook and casino
- Diverse casino game selection
- Frequent promotions for both platforms
- User-friendly and responsive interface
- High playthrough requirements on bonuses
A sportsbook with an especially impressive welcome offer is FanDuel, where you can get up to $1,000 in Bet Reset Tokens when you sign up and bet $5 daily for your first five days. This certainly gives players a great opportunity to check out the platform.
Elsewhere on the promotion front, we were pleased to see that they also offer the chance to win a free daily prize with their daily locker offer. To participate, you simply log in and select a locker each day for the chance to get a reward. You can also get boosted bonuses if you take part in the promotion on consecutive days.
When it comes to college football, we found the NCAAF listed high up the main menu on the website home page, which is always a good sign. It’s also easy to find on the FanDuel app. Digging deeper, we saw that they offer a great selection of futures markets, such as win totals and teams to reach the quarter-finals, as well as to win the entire tournament.
Within the pre-match and live section, there was also good market availability, including
college football playoff prop bets, as well as the chance to put together a same-game parlay to add to the excitement.
Fanatics – get up to $1,000 of Fan Cash
Fanatics Pros & Cons
- Seamless integration with Fanatics ecosystem
- Innovative rewards tied to merchandise
- User-friendly and intuitive platform
- Competitive betting markets and odds
- Limited availability in some states
Fanatics is a little different to our previous sportsbooks, as this one has recently become an app-only platform. This is a bit of a shame for those who prefer to do their college football betting on desktop, but we can confirm that the app is fully functioning and provides a great user experience on a mobile device.
The Fanatics sportsbook model also differs from the likes of BetMGM and DraftKings, as they offer something called Fan Cash, which works like loyalty points and can be redeemed for all sorts of different fun rewards, like merchandise, trading cards or even match tickets.
You can get a whole bunch of these on signing up for the sportsbook through their current welcome offer, where you can get up to $1,000 of Fan Cash via the 10 days of $100 bet match promotion. Alternatively, you can bet $20 and get $350 of bonus bets paid as seven daily $50 bonus bets.
As for college football, they have a range of markets available for NCAAF games, including all the key basics – moneylines, totals and point spreads. It’s also good to see that they have futures markets, plus live offerings.
Borgata – place a $20 bet and get up to $100 in bonus bets
Borgata Pros & Cons
- Wide variety of casino games
- Integrated MGM Rewards loyalty program
- User-friendly app and website
- Trusted brand with strong reputation
- Limited availability in some states
Last up in this section of our recommended sportsbooks and their
college football betting promos
is Borgata. This website comes with a white background, which will come as a blessed relief to those who are sick of all the dark backgrounds that are generally used these days! It’s easy to navigate on desktop, and we also found there to be no problems with the mobile app.
On the promotion front, the welcome offer is one of the more straightforward currently available, and there’s a lot to be said for that. Sign up today, and you can get $100 in bonus bets if you place a $20 bet. This may not sound quite as generous as some of the other offers on this page, but we do like the simplicity of it and the low qualifying stake size.
College football is well represented, with a comprehensive section featuring futures, pre-match and live markets, which stands up well compared to similar sites. However, while the variety of futures bets is impressive and the key pre-match markets are included (spreads, totals, moneyline), they do take longer than the likes of DraftKings to add any additional prop bets.
Before betting on anything, it’s crucial to know exactly what you’re doing, and that’s especially the case with live bets, as the action unfolds quickly and this has a knock-on effect when it comes to the betting markets.
As such, we thought it was a good idea to do a quick explainer of some of the most popular options.
Moneyline and handicap spreads
These are the markets that you’ll find at each and every NCAAF sportsbook as they ask the biggest question of all: who’s going to win?
The moneyline is betting on a team to simply win the game by any score, be it by 1 point or 100.
The handicap spreads are in place to add to the excitement, particularly when the game looks like being a mismatch. They work by giving a team an artificial head start. Here’s an example:
| San Jose State +38.5 | USC -38.5 |
| San Jose State wins | Winner | Loser |
| Match is a draw | Winner | Loser |
| USC wins by 1–38 points | Winner | Loser |
| USC wins by 39 or more points | Loser | Winner |
These lines can move when a match is live depending on the score at the time, so if betting live, it’s important to be watching the match, or paying close attention to the score.
Totals (over/under)
These straightforward markets have two outcomes: will a bet finish under or over a total? Typically, in college football, it would be a points total or a team’s total yards.
Sportsbooks use 0.5 in their totals e.g. under or over 42.5 points, so that there can only be a winner or a loser (a game can’t finish on exactly 42.5 points, after all).
Like with all live bets, either the points total or the odds will change as a match progresses.
Player bets
Think you’ve spotted the next big name to come out of college football? Well, player bets give you the chance to back them to do well, such as to score the first touchdown of the match, or a touchdown anytime during the match.
Same game parlay
Parlay bets are when you back multiple things to happen, and they all have to happen for the bet to be successful. Typically, this would involve betting on multiple games pre-match. For example, you might fancy five different NCAAF teams to win.
However, some sportsbooks, like FanDuel, also offer same game parlays where you can back multiple things to happen in the same match, which increases the odds. An example of this might be Notre Dame to win and the match to have over 63.5 points. If just one of those two things happens, your bet will be unsuccessful, so make sure you don’t get too ambitious with these.
As promised in the intro, we thought we’d share three live NCAAF betting strategies with you. Ultimately, how you play is entirely up to you, and the main thing is that you have fun, but these strategies should hopefully help you to think a little more deeply about the game.
Specialize in a specific team or prop market
You know what the number one advantage that you have over the bookmaker is?
They have to provide odds for every single market of every match, whereas you can pick and choose what you bet on.
This means that our number one tip for any aspiring sports bettor is to specialize. Pick out a team or, even better, a type of bet that you find interesting or already know a lot about. You can then use your knowledge of that to spot when the odds are offering good value.
Think of it like an all-you-can-eat global buffet versus a seafood restaurant next to the ocean. Which one is likely to do the better lobster roll?
Take advantage of over-reactions
Live betting is great for taking advantage of over-reactions, as points scored (especially touchdowns) tend to lead to huge shifts in the odds which often aren’t justified. This is particularly the case when it happens early in a match.
You can use this to your advantage by holding fire on certain bets until immediately after something seemingly negative happens.
For example, you might want to bet on the LSU moneyline pre-match but think that the odds aren’t very generous. Instead of betting at that stage, a better idea might be to wait until the match is live and hope that their opponents score first. If that happens, you can then back LSU at much better odds straightaway and still have a huge amount of time for the game to switch in your favor.
Read the match and look for shifts in momentum
Football is a game of four quarters, and it contains regular momentum shifts (we’ve all seen Any Given Sunday and Al Pacino’s half-time speech, right?). Use this to your advantage when betting live.
If you’re watching the game (and you probably should be if you want to live bet), look for subtle shifts in momentum, which you can then use to inform your betting while the odds are still good.
An example might be a team starting slowly and going into the first quarter behind, but you’ve noticed that their defense is starting to get to grips with the opposition quarterback. You could then use the break to think about betting on the team to turn it around, or even for it to be a low scoring match.
As well as a good chance for coaches to get involved, betting during the breaks are helpful as they ensure that you can place a bet without worrying about something going against you just as you’re clicking the bet button. Unless you’re at the match in person, there is likely to be a short delay with your broadcast feed.
NCAAF live betting pros and cons
Pros and Cons
- Multiple live sportsbooks to try out
- Great selection of markets
- Several generous welcome bonuses available
- Live TV broadcasts and online feeds can be delayed
With an increasing number of sportsbooks now operating in the US and offering live betting on the NCAAF, there’s never been a better time to be a college football fan who likes a flutter.
The key thing – as with all sports betting – is to be prepared, rather than guess. This means that you should do your research before placing any bets and, if betting live, make sure that you have the very latest information available to you, ideally by watching the match in question. This will give you the best chance of operating a solid betting strategy.

NCAAF live betting: FAQs
The best way of doing this is opening an account with a reputable sportsbook, such as one of those featured on this page. You will be able to do this, provided you are at least 21 years of age and based in a legal state. Restrictions can vary depending on the sportsbook, but the following states are unavailable with DraftKings: Alaska, Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Five of the best sportsbooks which offer NCAAF betting and have strong apps are BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, Borgata and Fanatics. All of these operators also have desktop websites, except for Fanatics, which is currently app-only.
There are typically fewer live betting markets available than pre-match, but you should still find lots of options available in-play. The main ones, which are present on all major sportsbooks, are moneyline, handicap spreads and totals markets.
