Everything comes down to Thursday night in Las Vegas as the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces meet in a winner-take-all Game 3 with a spot in the WNBA semifinals on the line.
Las Vegas dominated Game 1, 102-85, behind a spectacular 38-point, 16-rebound performance from A’ja Wilson. Indiana answered emphatically in Game 2, winning 99-89 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to extend its season.
The biggest difference in Game 2 was Caitlin Clark. Clark finished with 27 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds, becoming the first player in WNBA playoff history to record at least 25 points and 15 assists in a game. She was directly responsible for much of Indiana’s offense and consistently broke down Las Vegas’ pressure defense.
Kelsey Mitchell also rebounded from a disappointing Game 1 by scoring 26 points, while Aliyah Boston added 22 points and five assists. Indiana’s Big Three combined for 75 points, and the Fever dominated Las Vegas 58-26 in points in the paint.
Las Vegas still received an outstanding Game 2 performance from Jackie Young, who scored 31 points. Wilson finished with 22 points and nine rebounds after completely controlling Game 1. Chelsea Gray remains another major concern because of her ability to control tempo and deliver in late-game situations.
Indiana has proven it can score against this defense, but repeating Game 2 on the road will be difficult. Las Vegas should make adjustments designed to take the ball out of Clark’s hands earlier and prevent Boston from getting such comfortable opportunities inside.
The deciding factor could be Indiana’s ability to survive the stretches when Clark is pressured or off the floor. Game 3 should be much closer than the opener, with both teams relying heavily on their stars.
Player thresholds below are recommended target lines unless confirmed by your sportsbook. Check final markets before wagering.
Wilson has already demonstrated what she can do against Indiana, producing 38 points in Game 1 before being held to 22 in Game 2.
Expect Las Vegas to make a deliberate effort to establish Wilson early Thursday night.
Indiana crowded the paint much more effectively in Indianapolis, but Wilson should see increased touches, free-throw opportunities and shot volume in an elimination game.
A target around 26.5 points is attractive.
Clark’s playmaking completely changed Game 2.
She recorded 15 assists, including a WNBA postseason-record 11 in the first half for an Indiana player, as the Fever repeatedly punished Las Vegas for sending extra defenders toward her.
The Aces are unlikely to suddenly defend Clark one-on-one for 40 minutes, meaning passing opportunities should remain available.
Mitchell and Boston converted those opportunities Tuesday, and another double-digit assist performance is realistic.
Mitchell responded exactly as Indiana needed in Game 2, scoring 26 points after being held to 12 in the opener.
Clark’s ability to collapse Las Vegas’ defense creates catch-and-shoot opportunities for Mitchell, while her quick release makes it difficult for the Aces to recover.
Indiana will need another aggressive performance from Mitchell if it wants to win on the road.
The first two games have both cleared this number.
Game 1 finished with 187 combined points, while Game 2 reached 188.
Both teams possess too much offensive firepower to assume Game 3 automatically becomes a low-scoring defensive battle. Clark, Mitchell and Boston combined for 75 points Tuesday, while Wilson, Young and Gray give Las Vegas multiple scoring options.
Even with playoff pressure slowing possessions, another game in the low-to-mid 180s is realistic.
Caitlin Clark — Indiana Fever: Coming off a historic 27-point, 15-assist performance and remains the player most capable of changing the entire matchup.
Kelsey Mitchell — Indiana Fever: Scored 26 points in Game 2 and must continue punishing Las Vegas whenever extra defenders attack Clark.
Aliyah Boston — Indiana Fever: Produced 22 points and five assists Tuesday while helping Indiana dominate the paint.
A’ja Wilson — Las Vegas Aces: Followed a 38-point, 16-rebound Game 1 with 22 points and nine rebounds in Game 2. Las Vegas will likely feature her heavily from the opening possession.
Jackie Young — Las Vegas Aces: Scored 31 points in Game 2 and has become a major secondary problem for Indiana’s defense.
Chelsea Gray — Las Vegas Aces: Veteran playoff guard whose decision-making and late-game shot creation become especially valuable in a winner-take-all matchup.

Indiana +4.5Over 181.5 Total Points Caitlin Clark Over 9.5 Assists — Target Line Kelsey Mitchell Over 22.5 Points — Target Line
Indiana showed in Game 2 that this series changes dramatically when Clark is controlling the game and Mitchell and Boston are finishing the opportunities she creates.
Las Vegas, however, now returns home for the deciding game. Expect Wilson to be far more aggressive after Indiana limited her effectiveness Tuesday, while Young’s 31-point Game 2 performance gives the Fever another scorer they cannot ignore.
This should be significantly closer than Game 1. Indiana has enough offensive firepower to stay within one possession deep into the fourth quarter, but home court, Wilson and Las Vegas’ postseason experience give the Aces a slight late-game edge.
Expect Clark to keep Indiana alive until the final minutes before Wilson and Gray help Las Vegas execute just enough possessions down the stretch. The difference will be the officials having a quick whistle to help out A’Ja Wilson!
Prediction: Las Vegas 93, Indiana 90.
