UCONN vs Xavier Preview
In a Big East matchup on Saturday afternoon, the #2 Connecticut Huskies (11-2-1 ATS) and 9-5 O/U collide with #22 Xavier Musketeers (11-3, 7-6-1 ATS), 10-3 O/U). The Huskies were still perfect, with a solid win at home against Villanova on Wednesday. In their previous action, the Musketeers managed to win against St. John’s on the road. The Connecticut Huskies continue their brilliance. They are undefeated this season, having beaten many power conference opponents, including wins against Oregon, Alabama and Iowa State. Adama Sanogo surpassed the 20-point mark six times this season. On Wednesday, the junior forward was not at his best, scoring only seven points. He is currently averaging 17.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG and is in the midst of his best season. Jordan Hawkins is still a force to be reckoned with, scoring at least 15 points in five of his six last games. His season average has risen to 14.9 points per game on 41% shooting. Tristen Newton scored 17 in a win over Georgetown two weeks ago. With 9.9 points per game, the senior guard ranks third in team scoring.
The Huskies rank second in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings of the country and are #2 in the AP Top 25. Uconn is now 2-0 on the road, including a 68–46 win over Butler last week. The average score of the Huskies is 82.9 points which ranks them 21st in Division I. They are 15th in the nation for defense, with an average of 59.1 points. Xavier Musketeers Betting Tips
The Xavier Musketeers aim for an eighth consecutive win. They were 4-3 at one stage, but have been dominant since. They lost to Gonzaga and Duke, two of their losses coming against elite foes. Xavier has had a dominant start to conference play, beating Georgetown and Seton Hall. They were also 1.5 points favorites in Wednesday’s 84-79 road victory at St. John’s. Jack Nunge scored 23 in Wednesday’s win. He has averaged 15.2 PPG this season and 7.9 RPG. Colby Jones has made more than 50% of his field goals in his last two games. The average PPG for the junior guard is 14.2 and 5.3, respectively.
According to Ken Pomeroy’s ratings, the Musketeers rank 27th overall. They were unranked in the AP Top 25 until recently and moved up to the #22 spot this week. Xavier is 9-1 at home, with Indiana being their only blemish in November. Xavier’s season average is 83.9 points, which ranks them 10th. They need to improve their defense, which concedes an average of 74 points per game, ranking them 308th in DI.
