Toronto Raptors point guard Pascal Siakam has been one of the hottest commodities this NBA free agency period, as they search for an acceptable trade package for two-time All-Star and former Most Improved Player of the Year Pascal Siakam. One Eastern Conference team, specifically th Indiana Pacers are now considered favorites to acquire him; even with reports citing interest from the Atlanta Hawks as being equally likely. Despite entering his final contract year – Siakam can still provide invaluable championship experience that makes him a valuable asset in specific environments.
Pascal Siakam has already established an impressive career for himself. One could argue he has only just begun entering his prime, yet already boasts of winning an NBA Championship, Most Improved Player of the Year honor, two All-Star Teams and All-NBA Teams, including making 17.0 points, 3.5 assists, 6.5 total rebounds, nearly one steal per game with an astounding career field goal percentage of 48.7%!
Siakam boasts a career offensive rating of 114 and defensive rating of 109; his player efficiency rating has steadily increased each season, with last year’s efficiency rating being 20.3. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Pascal Siakam is receiving much interest in trade rumors from Indiana who have experienced such success this offseason.
Would He Fit With The Pacers? If the Pacers could arrange a deal whereby Myles Turner can remain, this potential trade could be an incredible coup. Pairing Pascal Siakam with Myles Turner in the frontcourt would be invaluable; Siakam can function well as an effective stretch four while still giving Myles Turner ample room to move throughout the paint, and Siakam could stretch defenses when needed by providing stretch four capabilities – not to mention not getting bogged down due to Siakam stretching defenses from time-.
The Pacers have made some subtle, but effective moves this offseason that could give them a shot in the Eastern Conference next season. They signed Bruce Brown to a two-year deal after his impressive championship run and acquired Obi Toppin from New York Knicks via trade. If Pascal Siakam can be acquired then that will put them firmly into playoff contention for next season.
