Xavier and Kennesaw State are both well-coached teams that move the ball well on offense. Kennesaw State played a tough schedule early in the season and the issue in those games was scoring points. Against better competition, they usually scored in the mid-50s. If they score in the mid-50s they will lose by a lot in this matchup.
The Owls are an impressive team. They possess good ball movement, create many key defensive plays and possess impressive athleticism when going up and down the floor. It’s clear why these Owls have become so successful: their offense and defense both look strong when moving the ball around.
They score with ease, make their way to the free-throw line, and should keep up the pressure against any inevitable Xavier runs that arise.
Though the three isn’t everything, they can usually hit eight to ten if everything is working well.
Xavier fails to defend the three well, doing little to create mistakes. If the Owls get hot from deep this could be a very interesting game.
Kennesaw State is aggressive defensively and needs to generate enough turnovers for quick points. Xavier will take advantage of Kennesaw State’s giveaways, but they also need to make the extra passes for an easy shot.
The Musketeers lead the nation in assists and are second only to Colgate when it comes to hitting threes.
Kennesaw State may boast an impressive offensive arsenal, but it lacks the firepower to keep up with an offense that should have 80 points on the board right after lunch.
These two teams have not played this season.
Kennesaw State put up just 55 in a loss to Indiana and 54 against the San Diego State Aztecs. It’ll get its points against the Musketeer defense, which struggles at times, but it won’t be able to keep up. Xavier is to strong on the offensive end of the floor.
Xavier is 0-7 when scoring fewer than 73 points and 25-2 when scoring more. Xavier 87 Kennesaw State 70
It’ll score more.
