He decided he needed a change of scenery after an underwhelming postseason performance against the Atlanta Hawks in 2021. “Ben Simmons does have the money. He’s set in that regard. If he cares anything about his basketball career, like, as a player, it’s not just this is my job. I’m making tons of money. I’m a celebrity,” Broussard said.
“If it’s not that, if there’s any inkling of him that actually has pride in his basketball ability, what he does on the court, if there’s a competitiveness in him, he’s gonna ball.”
The upcoming season will mark his first appearance with the Nets since Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2021. Simmons is Brooklyn’s biggest undiscovered talent because he hasn’t played in so long.

This upcoming season, Simmons will undoubtedly face more pressure than any other player as he looks to perform to the best of his abilities. Considering how things have unfolded over the past year and how much has changed, many people will be watching the 26-year-old when he takes the court for the first time. In addition to this, Simmons will also be under pressure because of the team he plays for.
At the moment, Kevin Durant’s trade request has caused turmoil for the Nets. In preparation for the franchise’s next phase, Simmons will be expected to lead the charge as another All-Star on the roster. There will be pressure on him as well as Kyrie Irving.
Simmons still has the potential to make a big impact on the Nets. As a teammate of Durant and Irving, he can be a significant help to the team. However, neither Durant nor Irving is guaranteed to be on the roster on opening night.
