Compared to the average demand for talent over the past 30 days, Curry’s demand has been 31.79 times higher while Kerr is 27.15 times higher. These put them on the cusp of exceptional, a level reached by only less than 1% of all talent. On the other hand, Green and Thompson have demand multiples of 16.9 and 15.9, respectively, which is close to the market average for all talent.
The Warriors are the most popular pick to win the NBA Finals, a sentiment that will be familiar to Bay Area natives who remember the team’s dominance against the Cleveland Cavaliers while LeBron was still in Cleveland.
However, the list is composed of more than simply James and the Warriors’ other notable players. Fans of the Celtics’ best forward, Jayson Tatum, will be pleased to see that he made the list top 10. Interesting to note, though, is that Golden State accounts for 40% of the list while the Celtics have a grand total of one representative. This could be because of the strong core of players that the Warriors have maintained over the past few seasons, making it easier for fans to identify with the team.
There is a distinct disparity in demand from one month ago when comparing the Warriors’ most productive player, Curry, to the Celtics’ most protruding player, Tatum.
Tatum’s popularity rises and falls with each playoff series, whereas Curry’s is constant. Insights like this are useful for advertisers and brands interested in collaborating with creatives. Curry is a safer bet, but Tatum’s peaks make him more amenable to targeted regional advertising.
James’ forthcoming plan with Lakers
James’s forthcoming choice on whether to extend his Lakers tenure and, in doing so, forsake the influence he has had with prior clubs, serves as a foreground to the question of whether or not the franchise will discover a trade partner for Russell Westbrook.
When he made similar moves before with the Lakers, they used their leverage to stay put during the previous deadline. Currently, it doesn’t look like James will sign an extension until he absolutely has to. However, the Lakers have made it clear all offseason that they are not interested in trading Westbrook unless they receive significant reinforcements in return, especially with the uncertainty surrounding James’ potential extension.
