The Golden State Warriors earned their fourth NBA championship title in eight years by conquering the Boston Celtics in six games. The vast majority of the public and media did not favor Golden State, so winning the title surely stifled numerous skeptics. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the NBA.
Warriors forward Draymond Green has been calling out everyone who had bet against Golden State this season, and the 32-year-old makes sure he will not miss any names.
This time, Green was involved with the Memphis Grizzlies’ All-Star guard, Ja Morant. After the Warriors beat the Celtics, Green came between teammate Klay Thompson and Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr.’s conversation on Twitter right before Green decided to mention Morant into this beef.
This year, the Warriors and Grizzlies met in the conference semifinals. The first playoff series of this season between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors was arguably the tensest of the season. Over the last few years, the teams have consistently played each other. On and off the court, both teams traded blows, with Dillon Brooks being disqualified for a foul on Gary Payton II, prompting Golden State coach Steve Kerr to accuse the Grizzlies player of cheating.
Following the Warriors’ championship victory at TD Garden, Thompson expressed his displeasure with a tweet sent by Jackson during the regular season. The tweet included the famous Warriors slogan, “Strength in Numbers.”
“There is this one player on the Grizzlies who tweeted ‘strength in numbers after they beat us in the regular season and it pissed me off so much,” Klay said from the main stage, making reference to a mid-season Twitter post by Jackson. “I can’t wait to retweet that thing. Frigging bum…”
When Morant heard what Thompson said, he instantly tweeted his thoughts on the situation. He claimed in a tweet that Memphis lives rent-free in the Warriors’ heads, particularly Thompson’s.
Here comes Draymond. The four-time NBA All-Star didn’t accept Morant’s tweet and responded with a laugh, saying, “We traded that real estate in Ja Morant the property value was higher in Boston,” Green tweeted.
Morant and Green are both key players for their respective teams. It’s not surprising that both players showed their competitive nature. As the disparagement continued, a fan suggested that the Grizzlies and the Warriors should play on Christmas Day next season.
Morant proposed that they should play in Memphis. Green, on the other hand, stated that the Warriors get to host since they’re the winners. Morant seemed to agree.
The young All-Star was also seriously injured during the series, and he was unable to play in the deciding game, which the Grizzlies lost. However, Memphis is still convinced that with all of their players performing at their best, they could have defeated the Warriors, and a bitter rivalry has since developed between the two teams.
Christmas Day usually features a rematch of the finals on the winner’s home court, but this is not always the case. The league chooses what it believes will garner the highest ratings. That’s most likely the Celtics vs. Warriors, but other games are possible.
At the final moment of the day, the Warriors are champions, and Memphis still has a long way to go before catching the Warriors.
The fans began to weigh in on the situation, and the majority of them apparently agreed with Green.
The Memphis Grizzlies appear to have the best chance of unseating the Western Conference champions next season. Only time will tell.
