This season Indiana has been a very streaky team. It won seven of the nine games it played at the end of December and the beginning of January. After that, the Pacers lost 16 of their next 18 matches. They lost to Chicago and Sacramento during this stretch. Since that huge losing streak, they have gotten back on track and won four of the last seven games. Indiana won three of its four-game road trip games last week, beating Chicago, Dallas, and Orlando. The Pacers fell to Philadelphia on Monday in a thriller of 147-143.
Multiple long-losing streaks have marred Houston’s season. This includes a 13-game losing streak that ran from December to January. After winning three of their five next games, the Rockets lost 11 consecutive games. The Rockets finally ended that streak with back-to back wins against San Antonio last week, winning both games by double digits. Houston hadn’t won consecutive games since beating Detroit at the beginning of February and Oklahoma City at the end of January/beginning of February. Although the Rockets’ 142-110 victory against the Spurs was one of their best performances of the season, they remain one game behind them in the Western Conference standings.
The Pacers won at Houston 99-91 back in December and have won the last six meetings between the teams.
Indiana is 2.5 games behind Washington in the Eastern Conference play in tournament. This gives it plenty of motivation going into this game. After a long losing streak, the Pacers have come back and covered the spread in six of their last seven games. The Pacers have been off for three days since their thriller against Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Houston is coming off a crushing loss to Brooklyn on Tuesday. The Rockets have only covered it twice in their nine previous games and are currently have lost six straight to Indiana. They have been a team that is fading right now, having only covered the spread in six of their last nine games.
