This series seemed over after the Heat beat up on the Celtics in game 3 to take a 3-0 lead in the series. No team in NBA history has come back from a 3-0 deficit. The Celtics have gotten hot starting with game 4 and their defense has been able to cool off the hot-shooting Heat and now we are presented with a winner take all game 7 to decide the Eastern Conference champions!
Derrick White was the unsung hero of the Cs in game 6, helping lead his unit to victory and possibly saving the season in doing so.
White scored only 11 points over 42 minutes, yet his two proved crucial in helping the Cs’ leading trio – Tatum-Brown-Smart – finish with 78 points on the night.
The Celtics shoot poorly from three-point range but made up for it on the defensive end of the floor where they were suffocating for most of the game against the Heat.
The Heat have taken every effort to make this playoff series exciting, from their play-in tournament victory and subsequent comeback from difficult situations during that tournament, all the way through beating the first-seed Milwaukee Bucks and later the New York Knicks before arriving here at this point in time.
Erik Spoelstra’s squad had everything under control but let it slip away from them. Following last night’s defeat, the situation in their training facility must have been quite dismal; but, they still stand a good chance to reach the finals and put an end to all this frustration.
Jimmy Butler struggled throughout the entire game, which caused it to be difficult for the Miami Heat to establish any sort of rhythm. Although he scored 24 points overall (5-for-21), 11 boards, and eight assists to go with that total; Caleb Martin scored 21 points while collecting 15 boards while Bam Adebayo grabbed 13 rebounds with 11 points to his name.
I am taking the Heat to cover the eight points, but I do think the Celtics win the game. I look for a close hard fought game with the Celtics coming out on top 107-103 to advance to the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets.
