The Celtics looked dead after trailing in this series three games to none, but that has all changed since the Celtics defense has now shown up over the last two games. Can the Celtics force a game 7? Vegas thinks so, as the Celtics are favored to win this game. The Heat face an almost must-win situation as they do not want this to now come down to a one-game playoff at TD Garden in Boston.
Jimmy Butler will need a powerful rebound performance to advance through Game 6 and head to the NBA Finals. After scoring 14 points and taking only ten field goal attempts (both playoff lows), Butler must show more aggression and put Miami on his back once more for them to advance. The Heat also must step it up on the defensive end of the court to have a shot at ending this on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been unstoppable over the last six quarters, outscoring Miami by 36 points and seizing momentum now that their confidence and swagger have returned.
More importantly, Boston is finally playing solid defense again. They allowed only the fifth-fewest points during the regular season, but their defense has been severely lacking since early in the postseason. Recently though, their total points given up have fallen under 100 points for two consecutive games; Mami’s hot shooting may have also subsided as they’ve allowed less than 100 in both matches this week. For the Celtics to win the next two games their defense will have to be on point against a Heat team that is capable of shooting insane percentages when they get hot.
Let me explain it this way, the Celtics have been better than the Heat all season long. The Heat have shot the ball at incredible rates during these playoffs, but that seems to be slowing down as the Celtics crank up the defensive pressure. Unless Jimmy Butler shows out the Celtics will win four straight and the series. Take the Celtics -3!
