Could the Lakers end this series in five games? The Lakers have been clearly the better team in this series, but Steph Curry and the rest of the Warriors will be playing in desperation mode. If the Warriors can shoot the ball well they should win this game, but as I said the Lakers look like the better team so far in this series.
The Lakers defeated the Warriors 104-101 and are one win away from reaching the Western Conference Finals and one Golden State loss away from having an assured new world champion.
This game started out slowly, with the Lakers leading 22-21 after one quarter and then trailing 52-49 by halftime before shifting in favor of the Warriors who eventually led 84-77 after three. But within minutes in the fourth, Lonnie Walker IV gave them their first lead with a jump shot to put them ahead 100-99 before sinking two free throws for an immediate tiebreak at 100-99 before Stephen Curry made a layup and LeBron James attempted an unsuccessful three-point shot that gave life back into their side’s chances.
But the Lakers quickly changed their defensive strategy by placing Anthony Davis on Stephen Curry, forcing two 3-point attempts over Davis that bounced off of the rim and out. Walker then converted two free throws for Golden State to fall apart.
James finished with 27 points, while Davis added 23 with 15 rebounds. Austin Reaves scored 21 points; Walker had 15. Unfortunately, D’Angelo Russell struggled, scoring four on 1-10 shooting.
First, it was Kevon Looney, then JaMychal Green and finally Gary Payton II, who became Warriors starters during this series, until Gary Payton II finally took control in Game 4. Until Game 4, though, the Warriors tried everything they could not to start Jordan Poole’s all-offense style; but after another defeat in Game 4, that may no longer be an option. Though his scoring and defense weren’t good during that game, neither were the Lakers defense able to keep the three-star guards at bay; with nothing else working against them other than Jordan Poole himself, now might finally be time for the Warriors throw out one last Poole party – at Game 5
The lakers have dominated this series so far and while I think the Warriors will win game 5, 6.5 points seem like a lot for the Warriors to cover. Take the Lakers and the points!
