NBA Play In Game Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans: Odds, Tips and Predictions 4/16/24

This is an intriguing matchup. New Orleans had the better regular season record, but the Lakers controlled the Pelicans in the four games they played, winning three. That includes a win two days ago in New Orleans by the Lakers. These two teams have had an interesting rivalry over the last five years, and this will be a hotly contested game.

Odds Lakers vs Pelicans

• Run Line: Lakers -1
• Moneyline Lakers -112
• Moneyline Pelicans +104
• Over/Under 225

These odds were updated at 9 am EST on 04/15/24, coming from Draft Kings.

Our Best Pick: Lakers to Cover

A New Orleans Pelicans win would add more enjoyment. LeBron James would make for excellent viewing on Friday night in an elimination game.

On Sunday, many could have made similar arguments: Pelicans could have avoided the Play-In and given Ingram more time to recover; Lakers likely would have fallen to their lesser game and set LeBron up for two single-elimination contests.

Whenever an opportunity presents itself for New Orleans — such as increasing franchise growth or strengthening postseason chances — the Pelicans fall apart.

Respect must still be shown for The King; few in the NBA can match his intensity on a one-game basis, and none from New Orleans has his level of play.

LeBron scored 28 points while dishing out 17 assists on Sunday, adding 11 rebounds and five steals as well.

LeBron remains Omar Little from Season 3 of “The Wire,” so no further comments need to be made about him.

LeBron is a legend and has come up with huge games before and he finds a way to win.

No matter what, he will do it again Tuesday night.

Lakers vs Pelicans Moneyline

The game is almost even money so bet whichever team you want on the money line as the odds are almost even, I think the Lakers are the safest bet in this game and I would prefer to give the point if betting on them. I would take the money line if I was betting on the pelicans.

Lakers vs Pelicans Over/Under Analysis

All four of the games between these two teams this year have went over the 225 points set for the over/under on this game. I think with the stakes as high as they are I look for a high scoring game once again between these two teams.

• Lakers playing well on the road

Lakers vs Pelicans Spread Analysis

The spread is correct in this game. I think the Lakers are a slightly better team, and they have shown that during the season series, but the Pelicans are at home.

Lakers vs Pelicans Head-to-Head

The Lakers have owned the season series, with the Pelicans winning three out of the four games, most of which are in dominating fashion. The Pelicans lone win this season was at home in New Orleans.

Injuries and Suspensions

Lakers Injury Report

• Perez- Quest
• Hernandez- Out
• Massey-Out

Pelicans Injury Report

• Moncada- Out
• Brebia- Out

Conclusion

The Pelicans are at home and won a game earlier this season against the Lakers. I am betting that LeBron has a big game in this one and overall I think the Lakers are the better team and I am betting the lakers and giving the -1.
