As concerns over the increasing number of positive coronavirus tests in Florida continue to mount, The NBA is gearing up for a return to the regular season on July 30. The venue will be the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The date, venue, and decision to return is the outcome from several discussions between the NBA Player Association and the league.
The NBA return ultimately got approved with a 29-1 vote. 22 out of the 30 NBA teams will play in Orlando. These teams will play the remainder of their season, a total of 8 games to determine the final 16 teams for the playoffs. No live audience will be in attendance and no tickets will be sold for these games.
With that said, here 10 of the 22 teams that you should look out for. On this list, these 10 teams have the biggest chances of securing a playoff spot. Don’t get us wrong though, 8 games can be all it takes to get the 8th seed. The 7th and 8th spots are up for grabs, you don’t want to miss this comeback.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is again a strong candidate for MVP this year. Due to his freakish athletic play style, Giannis has been dubbed as the “Greek Freak.” The Bucks are currently sitting at 1st place in the eastern conference, proof that Giannis and the bucks are playing well this season. Aside from the Greek Freak, Milwaukee also has All-Star Khris Middleton and an ever-so reliable Eric Bledsoe in their lineup.
Ever since Anthony Davis and Lebron teamed up in the City of Angels, the Lakers have been on a high since the all-star break. They currently sit at 1st place in the tough, western conference. The “King” and his merry men have an outstanding record of 49 wins and 14 losses in an undeniably tough conference to play. Look for King James to continue his stellar play as he looks to cement his legacy by winning another championship for the Lakers.
Even though the defending NBA champions lost Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, the Raptors are still going strong in the eastern conference. No one expected that the Kawhi-less Raptors would perform this good.
They are in 2nd place with a record of 46-18. Even though they lost Kawhi, the Raptors still have two stellar all-stars in Kyle Lowry and most improved player Pascal Siakam. They also have former all-star center Marc Gasol and one of the NBA’s most formidable rim defenders in Serge Ibaka.
The Clippers were dangerous last season. They continue being dangerous by adding two of the league’s most complete players. Yes, we’re talking about perineal all-stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Clippers are looking to dethrone Lebron in LA and possibly the whole NBA with their impressive supporting cast in Lou Williams, Joakim Noah, and Patrick Beverly.
The Boston Celtics stand third in the east with a record of 43-21. Although they’re young, the Jayson Tatum-led Celtics are proven. Even though they lost Terry Rozier to free agency, the Celtics continue their impressive improvement by signing all-star point guard Kemba Walker. With Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum in their lineup, never count out the Celtics.
High up in the cold Rockies of Colorado, the Denver Nuggets have been scorching hot in the western conference. They currently sit at 3rd place behind the two LA teams. One of the reasons why the Nuggets have improved so much is because they’re led by one of the most complete centers in today’s game, Nikola Jokic. They also have former all-star Paul Millsap and a young, talented backcourt of Jamal Murray and Garry Harris.
The Utah Jazz have one of the most complete lineups in the league today. You have incredible scoring in the backcourt with all-star Donovan Mitchell and basketball IQ with veteran Mike Conley at the point. They also have lethal shooters in Joe Ingles and Bojan Bogdanović. Let’s not forget that the Jazz also has the “Stifle Tower” Rudy Gobert, the league’s current leader in blocks per game. Look for the Jazz to have an impressive run.
Another surprising team making a surge in the eastern conference is the Miami Heat. Even though D-Wade retired, the Heat will continue their winning ways with all-stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Look for a nitty and gritty Heat to stifle offenses and pound the inside with their physical game.
The NBA season is about to make its return and a lot of people are excited. Even though there’s a pandemic, the NBA is making sure to follow safety protocols to stop the spread of infection. As the season continues, betting will surely follow. Lots of people are going with betmaster to provide them with fun and exciting bets while watching quality NBA basketball.
