This intriguing best-of-7 series begins Thursday in San Francisco. Caesars Sportsbook placed the Warriors (-160) as the favorite over the Celtics (+140). Golden State was a 3-point favorite to win Game 1.
The Warriors were 10-1 to win it all at the beginning of the season by Caesars Sportsbook and were among the top title contenders. In five games, they defeated the Dallas Mavericks to reach their sixth NBA Finals in eight years. Two other NBA teams only accomplished this feat: the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Golden State was a top-tier title favorite, but Boston started the season as a 50-1 long shot. Based on preseason odds, the Celtics would be the biggest long shot to win a title in over 35 years, according to sports betting archive SportsOddsHistory.com.
