The Big ten got a little crazier this past week, which means we have a new number one. Find the best site to bet on college basketball in your state by betting.net legally!
The Cornhuskers keep their spot in the Big Ten basement, and rightfully so, as they still have zero big ten wins so far.
I was starting to have hope for this version of Penn State, but a double-digit loss this past week in their only game to Iowa was hard to watch!
We now have the answer we were looking for after the Wildcats started the season hot. That answer is yes; the hot start was because the schedule was weak. The Big Ten has exposed Northwestern as a bottom feeder in the Big Ten.
It was a weird weak for the Terps as they blew out a very good Illinois team but got blown out in Michigan and followed that up. So how good is this team? I have no idea, but they are dangerous, and they showed that over the weekend.
The Gophers started the beneficiary of a weak early-season schedule, which means they are a lot like Northwestern, but unlike Northwestern, Minnesota has shown they can compete. This past week, the Gophers got a massive win over a hot-Rutgers team and are firmly in the NCAA Tournament discussion.
Every time you think the Scarlet Knights are starting to break through, they lose a game they shouldn’t, and they did it just past week against Minnesota.
The Wolverines were expected to be one of the top teams in the nation this season. This past week saw them blowout, Maryland and Indiana. They have been anything but that, but it seems the Wolverines are starting to break through and show the amount of talent they have.
The Hawkeyes lost on a questionable call against Rutgers, but the Hawkeyes have been playing well as of late. Iowa faces Purdue this week, which will answer many questions.
This past week, the Illini suffered three losses as they lost two games and, more importantly, lost star Kofi Cockburn. This was a team that I was ready to move up to number one last week, and now the bottom has dropped out for the Illini.
I was ready to move the Hoosiers up after a massive win over Purdue, but they played so poorly and uninspired against Michigan at home Sunday that I almost dropped them lower than this. If the Hoosiers want to make it to the NCAA Tournament, they must be consistent, especially at the guard position.
The Buckeyes had a quiet week, but that will change this week with a pair of road games at Minnesota and Purdue.
The Badgers finally lost a game, but they are one of the top teams in the Big Ten, and they face a week of what should be two wins against Nebraska and Minnesota.
Honestly, Purdue is the best team in the Big ten, but three conference losses make it hard to have them any higher than this.
The Spartans got a signature win over Wisconsin on Friday, and with almost all the top teams suffering a loss this past week, the Spartans are a no-brainer with the Wisconsin win.
