The Texas Rangers are just one win away from their first-ever World Series Championship, and they are also looking to finish off a hot streak that has seen them win every game in these playoffs on the road. Arizona has been a gritty, hard-nosed bunch that has shown a propensity to get off the mat and win when it’s least expected. Either way, tonight should be a historic night.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are learning quickly how the Rangers have reached this point in the postseason as the unrelenting Rangers continue their relentless victory streak this postseason. In game three, pitching took center stage as it held Arizona to just one run in a 3-1 victory; on Halloween night, however, the bats came alive and scored ten runs between innings two and three to leave Arizona reeling at 11-7 loss that now threatens elimination; six pitchers used during that game and 11 hits/11 runs conceded by them as they gave up 11 hits/11 runs against them as Arizona used six pitchers depleting their bullpen for tonight’s game 5!
The Texas Rangers continue an outstanding road performance this postseason by defeating the Diamondbacks 11-5 in game four of their best-of-seven series. They are within one win of winning their inaugural World Series championship. The Rangers outscored the Diamondbacks 10-0 before all seats in their stadium had been filled up for this game, scoring five runs over two and three innings to open up a 10-0 advantage. Corey Seager hit two two-run homers for the Rangers; Marcus Semien amassed five RBI with triples and a home run over these same innings. Andrew Heaney delivered an unexpectedly effective start in game four, allowing just four hits and one run over five innings while earning his first postseason victory; five different pitchers finished out four innings without using any top relievers in this contest.
If you can’t beat them, join them. Instead of trying to understand why the Rangers have become such an impressive road team this postseason, simply accept it. They have now amassed an MLB-record 10-0 road record since the wild-card round. They stand a chance of claiming their inaugural World Series championship on Wednesday when Nate Eovaldi takes the mound backed up by an experienced bullpen. The Rangers will end this series tonight.
