The Tampa Bay Rays survived one championship celebration. Tonight, they must prevent another.
Tampa Bay defeated Milwaukee 4–3 in 12 innings Tuesday, winning on Ben Williamson’s walk-off single after Cooper Pratt’s home run had put the Brewers ahead in the top half. Milwaukee still leads the World Series 3–1, but the Rays have earned another opportunity to extend their season.
The challenge becomes more difficult tonight. Milwaukee turns to Jacob Misiorowski, while Tampa Bay had not announced its starter at the time of this preview.
My lean is Milwaukee on the moneyline at −145 or better. The Brewers have the clearer starting-pitching plan, and Tampa Bay faces a demanding turnaround after Tuesday’s extra-inning victory.

MLB lists Misiorowski against an unannounced Tampa Bay starter for tonight’s game.

Tampa Bay finally produced the late response it had been missing.
After losing the first two games by one run and suffering a blowout in Game 3, the Rays answered Milwaukee’s extra-inning lead Tuesday instead of allowing another close opportunity to disappear.
That matters for tonight’s outlook. Tampa Bay has demonstrated that it can finish a tight game against this opponent.
The pitching situation remains the concern. The Rays needed seven pitchers to survive Game 4, leaving Kevin Cash with another difficult set of workload decisions on consecutive nights.
Until the starter is announced, there is limited value in predicting exactly how those innings will be distributed.
Offensively, Tampa Bay needs to make Misiorowski work without becoming passive against hittable strikes. Lengthy at-bats would be useful, but the Rays also must capitalize when he leaves a pitch in a favorable location.
The underdog price is tempting. My hesitation is backing an uncertain pitching plan against Milwaukee’s best starter.
Milwaukee missed its first opportunity to clinch, but its position remains strong.
The Brewers still need only one victory, and Misiorowski gives them an established starting point tonight. He allowed one run across five innings in Game 1, his longest outing of this postseason.
That does not guarantee another dominant performance. Tampa Bay has now seen him in this series, and Milwaukee should not assume it can simply repeat the opener.
The Brewers need efficient innings and enough offensive support to avoid placing every late decision under maximum pressure.
Their lineup should also resist trying to erase Tuesday’s disappointment with one swing. Against an unsettled Tampa Bay pitching plan, disciplined at-bats and sustained traffic could create opportunities throughout the game.
I prefer Milwaukee’s overall position, particularly on the moneyline. Three of the first four games have been close enough that requiring a two-run victory adds meaningful risk.
These are suggested alternate-line markets, not confirmed sportsbook offerings or quoted prop prices. Confirm availability, starting lineups and Tampa Bay’s pitching plan before betting.
A modest alternate strikeout threshold is my preferred pitching-prop approach. Four strikeouts offers more flexibility than requiring a large total from a starter whose postseason outings have been relatively short. The key is price: a lower threshold becomes less attractive if the cost rises too far. Confirm the available alternatives before committing.
Díaz remains my preferred Tampa Bay hit-prop target if he starts near the top of the lineup. I favor the one-hit market over requiring extra-base damage against Misiorowski. This approach also leaves opportunities against Milwaukee’s relievers. The difficult opening matchup makes it especially important to avoid paying an inflated price.
Contreras remains my preferred Milwaukee hit target, provided he starts in a prominent lineup position. With Tampa Bay’s starter unannounced, this selection should be reassessed once the opening matchup becomes clear. One hit is my preference over a home-run or RBI market because it requires fewer favorable circumstances to succeed.
Chourio is another Milwaukee option if he starts near the top of the order. His appeal here comes from the potential for multiple plate appearances against Tampa Bay’s available pitchers. I prefer one hit to chasing a multi-hit performance. Confirm the lineup and compare prices before treating this as more than a secondary selection.
Make Misiorowski earn his outs. Tampa Bay needs competitive at-bats that create scoring opportunities while testing his efficiency. Simply surviving pitches will not be enough.
Handle the pitching transitions. After an extra-inning game, both managers must balance available arms with immediate matchups. Tampa Bay’s unannounced starter makes its first several innings particularly important.
Finish the opportunities that appear. With another low total, an unnecessary baserunning out or a missed chance with a runner at third could decide the game.
I am backing Milwaukee on the moneyline at −145 or better, subject to Tampa Bay’s final pitching announcement.
The Brewers have the more dependable starting point with Misiorowski. Tampa Bay’s victory keeps the series alive, but it also came with a substantial pitching workload that could affect tonight’s decisions.
The Rays remain capable of forcing Game 6. Their Game 4 comeback showed why Milwaukee cannot treat this as a formality, and I would pass rather than chase a significantly more expensive Brewers price.
My secondary lean is under 6.5 runs, with less confidence than the moneyline selection. Misiorowski supports that position, but uncertainty surrounding Tampa Bay’s innings creates additional risk.
I expect another competitive game, with Milwaukee generating enough offense to finish the series.
Prediction: Brewers 4, Rays 2 — Milwaukee wins Game 5 and claims its first World Series championship.
