When you think of the NBA, the first player that usually comes to mind is LeBron James. When you think of the NFL, it’s usually Tom Brady. With the NHL, it’s likely Sidney Crosby (though you might get arguments in Edmonton and Washington). In Major League Baseball, there are a number of players who are in the argument as the Face of MLB.
Over the next few weeks, I will be asking YOU, the “MLB Twitterverse”, who you believe the Face of MLB truly is. This will be a 64-player tournament-style bracket (see below), with four rounds of voting daily.
Now, how did I come up with who the 64 players are in the bracket? Well, every team was guaranteed two spots in the bracket, so that’s the first 60 players. Actually, as far as the rankings go, it’s the bottom 60 players. Each of the #1 seeds were selected outside of the other 60 players as I don’t believe there is any question that these four should be considered the cream of the crop. They are: reigning American League MVP Jose Altuve, reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton, two-time MVP Mike Trout, and 2016 National League MVP Kris Bryant.
The bracket is listed below for those who want to keep track. The voting will start Tuesday, April 10th.
