On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers received some bad news. They learned that Walker Buehler, a superstar right-handed pitcher, will be missing the rest of the season and will need elbow surgery later in the month. He was previously a top-tier baseball pitcher before showing signs of injury. Check out the top sportsbook for betting on baseball.
According to MLB.com, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had the following to say:
โItโs certainly a blow,โ Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Monday. โWeโre better with Walker on our ballclub. But thereโs just nothing we can do about it. I still believe that we have enough guys to get through October to prevent runs. But yeah, we wanted Walker to be a part of this.โ
โI donโt want to get ahead of what it possibly might or might not be,โ Roberts said. โI think itโs fair because if we had clarity on what it was before going in, then you have a timeline. But right now we donโt. We all would love to have complete clarity right now.โ
โWe took a chance to try and take time off, start a projection to get him back for this year,โ Roberts said. โThen, as he went through it, we couldnโt get over the hump. We took a shot at it and now we have to go in.โ
Julio Urias has been great for Los Angeles this season, and Freddie Freeman had the following to say about him, according to MLB.com:
โI know heโs not an All-Star, but we got to be getting close to being in the Cy Young race here,โ said Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, who homered on Monday. โLeft arms donโt come around like that very often. And weโre lucky enough to have him on our team, and heโs been fantastic all season.โ
