Analysis & Betting Insights

Why the Mets Stand Out

David Peterson brings strong consistency and a sub-3.50 ERA — high-quality production by any metric. His numbers versus the Nationals show solid strikeout and control metrics. His advanced metrics (xwOBA .270) suggest he’s been somewhat unlucky, reinforcing his capability to outduel Irvin. Meanwhile, as a team, the Mets have dominated when favored at this price range.

Nationals’ Long Odds

Jake Irvin’s elevated 5.14 ERA and team’s overall mediocre run production (around 4.3–4.5 runs per game) set a steep hill to climb. However, his career numbers against the Mets suggest he can limit hits — though his high xwOBA against (.324) hints at vulnerability to hard contact.

New York Mets vs Washington Nationals Over/Under Analysis 9

This should be a higher scoring game especially with two starting Pitchers that will give up some runs.
