This week we have a new number one as the Rays are struggling some and the Braves continue to roll. The Dodgers are in a slow slide as the Giants, Marlins, and Reds continue to surprise.
The Angels scored 25 to win and the next day lost 4-3.
The Marlins have played well as of late and look to be the only team with any chance of catching the Braves in the National League East.
The Reds 12 winning streak ended with a pair of one-run losses to the Braves. The Reds need starting pitching to be a serious contender, but the offense is scary good from top to bottom.
Bobby Miller’s big season has hit a bad stretch as the Dodgers have struggled some as of late.
The Giants continued to play well, winning 4 out of 6 games against the Diamondbacks and Padres.
Arizona remains on top of the NL West despite dropping two of three to the Giants over the weekend, winning Sunday’s finale to avoid being swept. Things won’t ease up this week, though as Arizona welcomes MLB-leading Rays into Chase Field for three games starting Tuesday.
No one can escape the question of what Corey Seager would look like had he not missed more than 30 games earlier this season due to a strained left hamstring. So far this season he is hitting.349 with an OPS of 1.028 while adding ten homers and 46 RBIs through 46 games played for Texas Rangers.
Baltimore had an eventful week. They split two with the Rays before dropping an eight-run loss against the Mariners before rebounding with two victories at home to close out a winning weekend overall.
Tampa Bay Rays appear to be in their worst form all season. After benching star Wander Franco for two games this week (he returned Saturday, hitting a homer), they have not won any of their past four series since taking two out of three against Rangers from June 9-11.
The Braves continue their winning ways. After dominating both Philadelphia games against their archrival Phillies, then they traveled to Cincinnati to take on the red hot Reds and after dropping the first game, winning back-to-back against Reds, Atlanta moved into first place on this rankings list, as it won 10 of 11 to move within two games of Rays for the best record in Majors; only the Marlins (6 back) are close in terms of being within ten games behind Atlanta in NL East division standings.
