The Reds and Brewers are expected to challenge for the NL Central title, and both have had solid starts to the 2024 season. This will be the third game of a four-game set in Cincinnati, where the Brewers and Reds have split the first two games of the series, with the Reds winning on Monday and the Milwaukee Brewers winning last night’s game.
These odds were updated at 9 am EST on 04/10/24, coming from Draft Kings.
Probable Pitchers: Hunter Greene (Reds) – 0-0, 2.53 ERA vs Wade Miley (Brewers) – 0-0, 0.00 ERA
Hunter Greene will start for the Reds, while Wade Miley will take the ball for Milwaukee. Greene had posted an 0-2-0 ATS record over two starts this season when the Reds were money line favourites; on the contrary, Miley and his team posted a 12-11-0 record against the spread as moneyline underdogs last year when Miley was on the mound.
Hunter Greene boasts an electric fastball and has done very well this season, while Wade Miley will need to prove he’s not rusty after missing part of Spring Training. Cincinnati only used one pitcher from their bullpen during game four so as not to burn up too many pitchers from that department; I expect the Reds to win this game.
I like the Reds to win this game outright, and the odds are not great value, but it is good enough to drop money on the Reds with the Moneyline. Greene on the mound should make all the difference in the world, plus the Reda have a rested bullpen.
With Hunter Green on the mound for the Reds, I would lean towards the under in this game, plus the weather will deaden the ball a little bit and make home runs harder to come by than they usually are at Great American Ball Park.
Miley has not pitched since the start of spring training and I look for the Reds to jump on him quick before he settles down and starts getting people out. I look for the Reds to put up a few runs in the first few innings and nickel and dime a few more before getting ti a good Brewers bullpen. This is the first series between the Brewers and Reds this season, and the teams have split the first two games. The Brewers dominated the Reds last season, and the Reds need to reverse that trend if they want to contend in the National League Central.
The Brewers owned the Reds last season in their head-to-head matchups. The Reds are better than last year, and the Brewers might have gotten a little worse. These two teams have split the first two games of this four-game series, and the Reds have Hunter Green on the mound against what should be a rusty Wade Miley. Take the Reds in this one.
