The Astros is seeking for Bell to fill the first base position as they need an excellent player in the position. The 29-year-old can be an asset for the team as he is a switch hitter with more right-ball hits. He hit 13 home runs this season and a personal 53 RBI, .302 average, and .877 OPS. It is a contrast to his current team the Nats’ which is the worst team this season with its 34-66 and is last in the National League East.

Bell is said to replace Yuli Gurriel who shows declining performances recently. The 38-year-old hits 7 home runs this season with 27 RBI, a .238 average, and .681 OPS. He was great in 2021 with .319 hits and 15 homers but not so much lately.

The Astros are the third-best team in the MLB 2022 season with their 65-35 as the team plays in the American League West. Houston is right behind the Los Angeles Dodgers of the National League West who is second in the overall standings at a 66-32 record. The first place this season is occupied by the New York Yankees of the AL East who are at 67-33 so far.

Bell is happy in Washington

Bell talked to the Nationals’ manager Dave Martinez about his feelings toward the team. He said he is already comfortable in the Nationals and looking forward to spending a “long time” with the team. Even so, he is still looking forward to the MLB trade which has a deadline of Tuesday, August 2 as the deadline.

“It’s one of those things where it’s kind of out of my hands,” Bell said. “We’ll definitely see what happens. But I think the organization knows how pleased I am being here, with the city and all that, and with the community as a whole.”

He said he is happy with how Washington carries the club and how great he feels to wear the team’s jersey. “I think this organization does pretty much everything right. So I’m definitely happy to throw on the Nationals jersey.”

Juan Soto trade

Another Washington player is rumored to be traded for the playoff season. Juan Soto is one of the biggest names who will be traded by his team. The Nationals are trading him since the superstar rejected the offer of a $440 million contract extension to play with the team.

The St. Louis Cardinals is one of the most likely candidates to receive Soto in the team. The Cardinals hold the best deal for the player which is hard to resist. The team will compete with other teams who are seeking Soto including the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, and more.

It is no wonder why so many teams want the 23-year-old left-hander hitter. Soto’s 2022 season record is 81 runs and 20 homers this season with a .243 average, 45 RBI, and .880 OPS.
