In the second game of a four-game series at Tropicana, the Tampa Bay Rays (46-40), and Boston Red Sox (47-40). After a lengthy rehab, Chris Sale will be the Boston pitcher. Rays have veteran right-hander Corey Kluber (3.62 ERA) on the mound.
Sale will make his first appearance since last Oct’s playoff match against the Astros. Sale had some issues during his latest rehab stint. He threw 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run and five hits. He is a strong opponent to the Rays, going 10-6 with a 2.93 ERA lifetime.
After his dominance last week, Kluber will get another chance at the Red Sox. Kluber threw six scoreless innings, striking out five and giving up one run.
In Game 1, the Minnesota Twins (48-40), and Milwaukee Brewers (48-39) meet at Target Field. Jason Alexander (4.75 ERA) pitches for the Brew Crew, while Josh Winder (3.02) is the Twins’ counter.
Winder has been a strong player for Minnesota the past three weeks, going 2-0 and posting a 1.64 ERA. This will be his first matchup against the Brewers.
Jason Alexander was a good pitcher through June but has struggled lately. In a loss to the Cubs, he gave up seven runs in 5 1/3 innings. He will be making his debut against the Twins in this game.
Here, you can roll with Minny. The Brewers have been outscored by 25-17 in their five last games. They have lost four out of five overall and four out of five against the Twins.
In Game 2 of a three-game set at Oracle Park, the Arizona Diamondbacks (39-50) and San Francisco Giants (44-42) will meet. Dallas Keuchel, a veteran left-hander (7.63 ERA), takes the rubber for the Dbacks. Logan Webb (2.98) is the Giants’ counter.
Webb will make his debut against Arizona in this match. Webb is coming off a strong performance against Arizona, where he tossed eight innings of one-run baseball. In three career starts against Diamondbacks, he is now 2-0.
Dallas Keuchel delivered after a string of poor performances. He pitched seven innings against the Rockies last week. Although his ERA is not very impressive, it is due to a major incident against the Dodgers earlier in the year. In three career starts against Giants, he has a 3.71 ERA.
The DBacks are a big dog but have a chance against the slumping San Fran team. The giants are playing their worst ball this year, especially at home. They have lost nine of their last twelve games and five consecutively at home after losing 4-3 yesterday.
