The Cincinnati Reds have had an uplifting start to this year compared to their 100-loss campaign last season, playing some competitive yet inconsistent baseball, including an impressive five-game road win streak quickly followed by four consecutive home losses. This Reds team though is thriving as the season goes on and the young talent starts to fill up a roster that just a few months ago seemed headed for another 100-loss season. Now, hope resides in Cincinnati as the Reds entered a Thursday night game against Kansas City only 2.5 games behind the first-place Pirates.
But true to form, the Reds quickly recovered from a recent slide. They took three consecutive wins – including their initial two matches against the Los Angeles Dodgers before facing Clayton Kershaw and failing in their bid for victory in game three of that series. Furthermore, two out of three wins against St Louis Cardinals concluded the week positively for an overall 5-2 record and provided stability during this pivotal stretch in their season.
Elly De La Cruz Is Prepared To be A bonafide superstar Elly is new to the season but has been a major contributor to the Reds’ recent hot streak. Great expectations are with Elly De La Cruz, an exciting 6’5″ rookie phenom who holds an impressive batting average of.364. Moreover, De La Cruz boasts the fastest speed among all Major Leaguers; even boldly proclaiming himself to be “the fastest man on earth”.
De La Cruz made an immediate impact upon entering Major League action last Tuesday when he hit a 458-foot home run during his second game – in only his second Major League game! Since joining his Reds teammates last Tuesday, De La Cruz has helped produced four wins – an unmatched combination of size, power, and speed that looks every bit like an absolute superstar.
With the National League playoff race now being closely contested, and with their current standing at 31-35 they are making remarkable gains since their 100-loss season in 2022. The Pirates and the Brewers are not great teams, and as crazy as it may seem, the Reds can win the National League Central. They have the young starting pitching that would give them a chance in the playoffs also.
De La Cruz may provide the missing piece that propels the Cincinnati Reds past.500 mark and into playoff contention in 2024. His contributions may just be enough to put Cincinnati on track, and one can’t help but be impressed by his star power that could bring real hope of playoff contention this season.
De La Cruz is the equivalent of the Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow. Before the Bengals got Burrow, fans hated the ownership, and no hope truly existed for a significant change. This same scenario is playing out right now for the Reds. Who knows if the Reds can continue in a pennant race all year, but things have changed since last season, and hope is now alive in Cincinnati.
