Alonso won the Home Run Derby in 2021, and in 2022 he will be joined by a talented group of co-stars at the annual slugfest.
The Home Run Derby bracket will be filled in 2022 by the following confirmed participants: Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves outfielder, Juan Soto (Washington Nationals slugger), and Kyle Schwarber (Phillies outfielder).
Even though he only hit five home runs in the season, Albert Pujols, a baseball legend, will be invited to the Derby as an honorary guest.

Alonso defeated Trey Mancini, Baltimore Orioles first baseman, in the 2020 Home Run Derby to become the third player to win back-to-back Derbys.
He showed that he could hit the ball far.
Alonso’s home runs covered 6.35 miles to win the Home Run Derby. He joined Ken Griffey Jr. (1998) and Yoenis Cespedes (2013) as the only two back-to-back winners.

Alonso is in elite company, a power hitter and a great hitter of long balls.
Alonso’s career record includes 129 home runs over 1689 at-bats. This gives him a 7.63 per cent home run percentage. Although it might not sound like much, this puts him up there all time.
Alonso’s home-run rate is 7.7%, 8.5% and 9.4%, respectively. This puts him in the same league as Babe Ruth (8.5%), Barry Bonds (7.7%), and Mark McGuire (9.4%).
The Mets’ slugger should not have any problems showing power at the plate in 2022, and an event almost made for Alonso.
