2022 Home Run Derby Preview: Can Alonso win again?

2022 Home Run Derby Bracket

Alonso won the Home Run Derby in 2021, and in 2022 he will be joined by a talented group of co-stars at the annual slugfest.

The Home Run Derby bracket will be filled in 2022 by the following confirmed participants: Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves outfielder, Juan Soto (Washington Nationals slugger), and Kyle Schwarber (Phillies outfielder).

Even though he only hit five home runs in the season, Albert Pujols, a baseball legend, will be invited to the Derby as an honorary guest.

Despite a talented field, Alonso is expected to be the odds-on favorite at the top baseball betting sites to bet on the MLB.

Below is a list of all the players participating in the 2022 Home Run Derby at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California.

Alonso to Defend Consecutive Home Run Derby Titles

Home Run Derby 2022 will be held at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California, Monday, July 18, 2022, at 8 PM ET

Alonso defeated Trey Mancini, Baltimore Orioles first baseman, in the 2020 Home Run Derby to become the third player to win back-to-back Derbys.

He showed that he could hit the ball far.

Alonso’s home runs covered 6.35 miles to win the Home Run Derby. He joined Ken Griffey Jr. (1998) and Yoenis Cespedes (2013) as the only two back-to-back winners.

Can Alonso win the MLB Home Run Derby in 2022?

According to the top new online betting sites, Alonso will have the best Home Run Derby odds for 2022.

The Mets’ star is among the most productive hitters this season.

Alonso is the league leader with 72 RBIs and leads the MLB in home runs. He has 23 home runs this year, which ranks sixth in the MLB. Alonso is making contact more than ever. He has hit a career-high of.269 at the plate so far this season.

Alonso is in elite company, a power hitter and a great hitter of long balls.

Alonso’s career record includes 129 home runs over 1689 at-bats. This gives him a 7.63 per cent home run percentage. Although it might not sound like much, this puts him up there all time.

Alonso’s home-run rate is 7.7%, 8.5% and 9.4%, respectively. This puts him in the same league as Babe Ruth (8.5%), Barry Bonds (7.7%), and Mark McGuire (9.4%).

The Mets’ slugger should not have any problems showing power at the plate in 2022, and an event almost made for Alonso.
