At around +150 odds, I appreciate the value in betting on the Diamondbacks. Webb hasn’t been terrible but has allowed too many runners on base this season (17 combined in his last two starts). Additionally, Webb isn’t striking out many batters (five or fewer Ks in all four starts). Arizona boasts plenty of offensive weapons and averages 5.7 runs per game, while San Francisco has struggled on offense this year; I don’t anticipate much difficulty with Nelson-based on San Francisco scoring three or fewer runs eight of twelve times and slashing.233/.307/.370/.677 against right-handed pitchers this year.
Webb may be more famous, but Nelson should more than hold his own tonight. With early run support backing him up, I think Nelson should last long enough for his tired bullpen to rest up and recover. Furthermore, I am not sure the Giants will fare any better against D-Backs relief group (5.05 ERA). Bettors should exercise caution if wagering on the Giants bullpen.
