Mark Lewis

Hi there! I’m Mark, a sports betting fanatic and online gambling enthusiast.

The only physical object I ever wanted to kick was a ball. Which ball, you may ask? Well, I was an avid soccer player during my teenage years, living in Monterey, California. I still watch most professional league matches religiously, with my preference being the Premier League or FA Cup.

Speaking of balls, I’m also a massive football and basketball fan, and I always check out the odds at a range of sportsbooks before watching an epic clash. I guess my greatest (and most annoying) weakness is being a typical Monday morning quarterback.

Testimonials from Colleagues

Enough about me, though. I graduated from UCLA with a Major in English and a major obsession with sports and sports betting.

After getting a job at a local paper writing sports reviews, I started delving more and more into the online betting industry, even before it exploded in the US. I ended up not only developing a love for online casino games as well but also a dream job writing about odds, house edges, and everything else that comes with the joys of online gambling.

What makes me one of the biggest fans of online betting is how many angles there are to explore. From looking at odds to different betting strategies, it all just fascinates me and gets the cogs turning the right way.

When I feel like having a bit of casino time, I love my online table games, and I’m a whizz at blackjack.

We asked

You got into the online betting industry before it exploded in the US - what changes have you seen?
It’s been incredible to watch. When I started, most Americans had never placed a legal online bet, and the whole industry was much smaller and harder to navigate. Now we have dozens of major sportsbooks competing for customers, which means better odds, more betting options, and improved user experiences. The downside is there’s also more confusing promotions and marketing tactics, which is why honest reviews and education are more important than ever.
What's the biggest mistake you see new sports bettors make?
They bet with their heart instead of their head. I see people constantly betting on their favorite teams or chasing losses with bigger bets. The key is treating it like any other investment – do your research, manage your bankroll, and never bet more than you can afford to lose. Emotional betting is the fastest way to empty your account.
How do you tell the difference between a good online casino and one to avoid?
Start with licensing and regulation – legitimate casinos will clearly display their licenses from respected authorities. Then look at withdrawal times and limits, because a casino that makes it hard to get your money out is showing you their true colors. I also test their customer service response times and check if their games are from reputable software providers. If something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts.
