Testimonials from Colleagues

Dan Kornhauser has been active in the sports media world for almost 25 years now. He started in high school, where he hosted his own live sports talk radio show every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with his longtime friend and co-host, Bobby. They covered the four major sports here in the United States (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), offering fresh and youthful opinions on different sports topics.

In college, Dan continued exploring his love of sports media, majoring in Radio/TV Broadcasting and minoring in Journalism. He became the first freshman to host a radio show and podcast with a fellow freshman (shout out to Dan P.). This show focused more on football and basketball, both pros and college (national and local). Dan was also a part of his college’s media department, providing play-by-play or color commentary for men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, and baseball.

After college, Dan continued working on his craft, providing written and video content for websites across the web. He has developed from focusing mostly on narrative and opinion, to focusing more on stats, facts, and analytics. He has covered everything from NJCAA championship tournaments, to the NFL Draft. Now, he brings his factual, impartial analysis to The Grueling Truth.

We asked

How has your approach to sports coverage changed over 25 years in the industry?
I started out focusing on hot takes and opinions like most young sports media people do. Over time, I realized readers value facts and data more than my personal feelings about a team or player. Now
What does "impartial analysis" mean to you in sports coverage?
It means checking my personal biases at the door and focusing on what the evidence actually shows. I’ve been doing this long enough to know that my favorite teams or players don’t need me to be their cheerleader—readers want honest assessments based on facts.
What's the most important lesson you've learned in all of your years working in sports media?
Credibility takes years to build and seconds to lose. Being factual and transparent with your audience matters more than getting clicks or going viral.
