Based in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Goodpaster has built a reputation over more than three decades as a coach who understands the game at its core and as a media figure who communicates that understanding with honesty, depth, and credibility.
Goodpaster’s foundation is coaching. Over
30 years on the field, he has served as a
head coach at the high school and professional indoor football levels, compiling
more than 300 career wins
across multiple programs. His coaching résumé includes long-term work with the
Landmark Eagles
and head-coaching roles in several
professional indoor football leagues, where adaptability and game management are paramount.
Known for his attention to fundamentals, situational football, and player development, Goodpaster has helped guide
over 100 athletes to NCAA Division I opportunities
and
more than 30 players to CFL and NFL careers.

History of The Grueling Truth
The Grueling Truth Sports Network began early in 2015, Mike Goodpaster was invited to be on a show hosted by Troy Otrodavec. Troy after Mike was on the show offered to have Mike on his Red Light Sports show weekly during Football season.
After a few weeks of this Mike’s friend John Jackson an architect from Indianapolis brought up the idea of Mike starting his own website and his own shows. John decided to start the website and show Mike How to do it. Mike had a friend named Matt Andruscavage who decided to join Mike in writing articles and doing podcasts.
The NFL Legends show the men hosted quickly picked up steam when the first guests to be interviewed were players like Roger Craig, Kenny Easley, Tom Flores and that list grew and grew.
A Boxing Legends show was then started and you know that will take off when your guest list starts off with George Foreman and Larry Holmes. Jeremiah Preisser joined to co-host the Boxing show and before long they had the only Boxing daily show in the country that ran for a couple of years.
The idea for the writing was to do a more historical and honest look at the history of sports, you already have the main stream sports outlets that like to delve into politics and have an agenda. The Grueling Truth was the opposite of that with no narrative forced down viewers throats.

The Indiana Basketball show that Mike does with his friend Steve Risley is one of the most watched and listened to Indiana Basketball podcasts in the world. Risley was a key player on the 1981 Indiana Hoosiers team that won a National Championship.
