The Grueling Truth - Where Legends Speak / How would Chelsea deal with the Hazard void

How would Chelsea deal with the Hazard void

Publish Date: 07/26/2019

Chelsea fans would be cursing the team’s management. They’ve let Hazard go. Boy, that’s a pretty big deal. The Belgian forward was the club’s goal-scoring machine. During the 2018-19 season, Hazard spearheaded the team’s forward line. Every single time the Blues needed a goal, Hazard put his hand up and delivered the goods. He was the club’s heartbeat. In the 2018-19 Premier League season, Hazard scored as many as 16 goals in 37 appearances for the Blues.

And now, he has shifted his base to Real Madrid. The Spanish powerhouse bought Eden Hazard’s services for a whopping £88 million. Now, that’s a lot of money. But looking at Hazard’s goal-scoring prowess, it certainly won’t be wrong to say that ‘investing’ in Hazard is likely to reap long-term benefits. Hazard’s dream to play in Spain was well-documented back in 2018. A lot of clubs had showcased interested in the 28-year-old. He chose Real Madrid to realize his dream.

In a bid to strengthen the club’s forward lines further, Real Madrid has roped in the likes of Takefusa Kugo and Luka Jovic. Ronaldo’s departure from the club came as a shock. Following Ronaldo’s move to Italy, the club’s fortunes seem to have dwindled a bit. In the 2018-19 season, Real Madrid stood third ( behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid). Hazard’s signing took the world of football by storm.

How big is the Gulf?

Ah, fans are still in a state of despair. Hazard spent seven years with the club. During this period, he played 352 games for the Blues, scoring a total of 110 goals for the club.

In the 2018-19 season, Hazard scored 16 goals and backed them up with 15 assists. He helped score almost 50% of the club’s Premier League goals this season. He, almost single-handedly, steered his side out of troubled waters during the recently-concluded season. Fans kept cheering endlessly as Hazard kept on finding the nets frequently.

The upcoming season is expected to be no different. Premier League is one of the biggest hospitality events on earth. Make sure you don’t miss out on all the action. Get your tickets booked right away.

How will they cope up with the void?

Someone would have to step into Eden Hazard’s shoes. Now, that is easier said than done. Eden Hazard wasn’t just a player; he was a phenomenon. In his absence, the youngsters need to step up. The likes of Tammy Abrahams, Christian Pulisic, and Callum Hudson Odoi need to step up in Hazard’s absence. Also, the experienced pros in N’golo Kante, Willian, and Olivier Giroud need to motivate the youngsters during crunch moments in the game. Having good players in your ranks isn’t enough. To win matches, your team should be able to play as a cohesive unit.

Fans would be eager to see their favorite players in action. Chelsea fans have already started booking Chelsea FC hospitality packages for the upcoming season.

The Pulisic factor

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder/winger has been signed from German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund. Since making his senior team debut for Borussia Dortmund in 2016. On April 17, 2016, Pulisic scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga fixture against Hamburger SV. He opened the scoring in a 3-0  victory over the club. It made him the youngest non-German player to score for Borussia Dortmund.

His stocks have witnessed a steady upsurge since he made his debut for Dortmund. Pundits across the globe believe that Pulisic has all the ingredients to become the next big thing in English football.

The rivalries

The rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal is the one to savor. Both of these clubs compete against each other in an epic London derby. Fans make the customary pilgrimage to the Stamford Bridge whenever the Blues host the Gunners.
