Before he created The Grueling Truth Sports Network, featuring wall-to-wall boxing podcasts of great variety, Mike Goodpaster was a standout athlete in Indiana, a walk-on who made the team at Indiana State (Larry Bird University), and a multi-level football coach who had exceptional success at the pro level in a midwestern indoor football league.
Today, Goodpaster can talk seamlessly and with great authority about almost any sport, but he has a special affection for boxing, with encyclopedic knowledge of not only the modern sport, but history.
We invited him on The Ringside Boxing Show to talk boxing, tell weird indoor football stories, reminisce about the legendary high school basketball history in the state of Indiana (remember “Hoosiers?”), and discuss the past and future ofย thegruelingtruth.net, a dynamic internet venue for any true sports nut.
We also get our weekly update on the UK boxing scene from British correspondent Paul McLaughlin, and we dig deep into the weekend fights — Groves-Eubank, Garcia-Rios, and Alexander-Ortiz — with our expert analysts, Rizwaan Zahid and John J. Raspanti.
Dennis Taylor is host of The Ringside Boxing Show, editor-publisher ofย www.ringsideboxingshow.com, and co-author (with John J. Raspanti) of “Intimate Warfare: The True Story of the Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward Boxing Trilogy,” currently on Amazon’s bestseller list.
