The New York Knicks and Miami Heat will battle like it’s 1999! This was a classic rivalry in the 90s, and that rivalry will resume at Madison Square Graden this weekend. The Heat are the first team to advance from a play-in game to the second round of the NBA playoffs, and they will be led by Jimmy Butler, who has been fantastic in his career in the playoffs. The Knicks are advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in a decade, and the Garden will be rocking.
The Heat made an unexpected run through the Play-In Tournament and managed to beat out expectations by quickly dispatching of the Bucks without Giannis Antetokounmpo in Games 2 and 3. Jimmy Butler then delivered one of his signature performances by scoring 56 points in Game 4, marking the fourth-best scoring performance ever in NBA playoff history before coming back from 16 points down and winning Game 5 on the road in overtime.
The Knicks have found success on both ends of the court, but their No. 1-ranked defense stands out among Eastern Conference teams as one of their key strengths. That will set up for an intense seven-game series against Miami Heat.
Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat extended his legacy further as he took on Milwaukee Bucks, leading them into round two 4-1. Butler made an impactful statement with his performance during Game 4, turning momentum entirely in their favor and helping secure victory for the Miami Heat.Butler not only put the Heat up 3-1 with his 56-point performance, but it also set an NBA playoff game record by ranking fourth highest ever. He then sealed off Game 5 by scoring at the end of regulation to send it into overtime, ending his first-round performance with 42 points.
Can the Knicks slow down Jimmy Butler? Can the Heat get enough production from their bench? A lot of questions are about to be asked, and the series will be decided by who answers them the best.
