FC Cincinnati Overcome Richmond Kickers in 4-0 Shutout

FC Cincy is rolling

In front of a crowd of 28,000+, FC Cincinnati defeated the Richmond Kickers Saturday night at Nippert Stadium 4-0.

Emmanuel Ledesma won the man of the match from scoring two goals in the 8th minute and 67th minute. Nazmi Albadawi scored the second goal at the 36th minute and Danni Konig in the 60th minute. For FC Cincinnati, Emery Welshman got one in the 82nd minute and Dekel Keinan in the 90th minute into extra time.

In terms of personal experience, the crowd was bigger than usual, the atmosphere was electric and the fans were a blast. Late into the game, as I was sitting in the front row, on the field a ball was kicked past me towards a fan who proceeded to do a header, and the ball went right back on the field. All the people around him roared in cheer. It was one of those moments that make you love fans of soccer, people who come out to have a good time and for cheap entertainment.

FC Cincinnati was dominant from the start and with the win, their goal difference goes from 8 to 12. Plus they keep lead in the USL Eastern Conference with 30 points. Richmond heading into the match was third to last in the Eastern Conference with 13 points.  FC Cincinnati’s next match is on Wednesday June 27th, as they travel to Toronto FC II, who sits in last in the Eastern Conference with 2 points. Next home match will be against the Ottawa Fury on Saturday June 30th at 7:30pm with post-game fireworks after the match. Ottawa is currently 12th in the Eastern Conference with 15 points.
