Common Variants of Craps Bets

Pass Line: A Player makes pass line bets before the shooter rolls the first roll of the game. The first roll of the crap game is known as the come-out roll. If the dice rolls on to 7 or 11 numbers, the player wins the bet. This is known as ‘Natural’. If the dice rolls on to 2, 3 or 12, the player lose the round. This is known as ‘Craps’.

It is considered as ‘point’ if the dice lands on the remaining numbers like 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. Now, the dice are rolled again. If it lands on any point before rolling on 7, the player wins. However, if 7 lands before the point, then the player loses.

Don’t Pass Bets: This bet is basically the opposite of ‘pass line’. So, players will lose on natural (7 or 11) and win on craps (2 or 3). There is also a middle ground known as ‘push’ which comes into the picture if the 12 number is rolled. In case of the push, no player wins or loses.

Further, in the case of point, the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 are again considered. But, if 7 lands before the point numbers, the player wins. He/she loses the round if 7 lands after the point.

Come Bets: The rules of these bets remain similar to the pass line bets. However, the only difference is that the come bets are placed following the come-out roll.

Don’t Come Bets: Don’t come bets are the opposite of come bets but are placed following the come-out roll.

Odds Bets: Bets placed following the come-out roll to complement the pass line, don’t pass, come and don’t come bets are Odds. To place the odds bets, you should have placed similar bets before.

During the placement of odds wagers on the pass line & come bets, it is known as ‘taking odds’. Consequently, any wagers placed using the don’t pass or don’t come are termed to be ‘giving odds’.

The best part of these bets is they payout at the actual odds. So, players don’t have any house edge to deal here.

Place Bets: The wagers made on numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 following the come-out roll are known as place bets. If a player has placed a bet on any of the above numbers and it lands before 7, the player wins the bet. If lands after 7, the player loses.
