Crown Sydney’s Casino to open in August

Crown Resorts is going to reopen its Sydney casino next month, a year and a half after New South Wales (NSW) suspended its casino license.

The NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) approved Crown’s Sydney operation last month, stating that it would keep monitoring the casino’s initial activities.

According to ABC News, the resort will have two gaming floors, the Crystal Floor and the Mahogany Room. The former will open on August 8, while the latter has yet to be announced. However, it will most likely be ready in August as well.

With both rooms open, Crown Sydney will have 160 gaming tables and 70 electronic table games. In addition, on the 28th and 29th floors, the property will add 12 exclusives “Sky Salons.”

Only VIP members and their guests will be allowed on the gaming floor.

Crown Sydney CEO Simon McGrath stated that the company is dedicated to providing a safe and responsible gaming environment for all customers. He also boasts of Crowns’ exclusivity.

“It is the only casino of its kind in Australia, with all patrons required to be a member or guest of a member and undergo comprehensive checks.” McGrath added.

Following a months-long public inquiry that revealed allegations of money laundering, the ILGA found the gambling giant unfit to hold a gaming license for the casino at Barangaroo last year.

Crown, on the other hand, had rebuilt its gaming model from the ground up, implying significant structural changes in governance, anti-money laundering measures, and corporate culture, according to ILGA chair Philip Crawford in June.

However, Crown’s failure to follow the rules in Australia has already cost it tens of millions of dollars. Its outrageous mismanagement resulted in changes to gambling regulations across the country, as well as the temporary loss of its license in NSW.

Because of the problems caused by Crown, NSW appointed an independent supervisor to oversee its operations. The ILGA will closely monitor the casino to ensure that the rules and regulations are followed. The Crown now claims to be ready to address the past issues.
