Quarterback is the most prestigious position in football and without a solid quarterback, your chances of winning a Super Bowl are greatly decreased. With that being said, let’s look at where some quality quarterbacks could end up playing next year.
With Pat Shurmur on board and a new G.M., the Giants are going to bring Manning back. The Giants probably wouldn’t be able to get enough value for Manning in a trade since he is in the final stages of his career. There is no other quarterback out there in the Draft or Free Agency that is as capable as Manning is of leading the Giants back to the playoffs. I do expect the Giants to draft a quarterback in the second or third round, but Manning will be back and under center for the Giants 2018 season opener.
The Saints are a serious contender and I cannot forsee Brees playing anywhere else. It’s also hard to see him leaving because unlike Patrick Mahomes, there is no heir-apparent to Brees in New Orleans.
With the Redskins acquiring Alex Smith, the writing is on the wall for Cousins. The next question is where will Cousins end up? My guess is the Broncos, with the Jets possibly being a major player for him also.
The Vikings are too close to being a Super Bowl team to let Keenum get away. I think they will franchise tag him. No matter what happened in the NFC Championship game, you have to put more weight on what he did to get the Vikings to that Championship game.
The Cardinals stayed too long with former starter Carson Palmer and they are paying for it now. Bradford is an excellent quarterback, but his history says an injury won’t be too far behind.
This is a no-brainer. With the 49ers now having a competent front office, it will get done.
