This year’s draft class didn’t offer much in the way of Quarterbacks; this will not be true heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. Teams like the Cardinals and Bears will regret not waiting until next year to draft a quarterback. So let’s look at the top 5 as of right now.
Lightning quick release, good accuracy and ability to stand in the pocket and scan the field. The questions that will be raised will be because of his playing in Mike Leach’s air raid system, but I think he can translate his game to the NFL.
Most of the questions with Mayfield hinge on his off the field decision making as he has beenย arrested on charges including public intoxication, disorderly conduct, fleeing and resisting arrest. He has excellent feet and a nice release, and heย can make all of the throws. Mayfield is a player, the question for NFL teams will be can he develop into a leader.
This kid can be special. He has had a tendency to be inconsistent in the past. If he can improve his game this year and harness his gifts, he can be a top 10 draft pick. Allen has a cannon for an arm, and heย is a tremendous athlete, and Iย love the tight over the top delivery.
Rudolph is a guy I like, great size and good mobility, feels pass rushers aroundย him and can extend plays. He is patient in the pocket and doesn’t force throws.
1) Sam Darnold, USC Trojans
Darnold, to me, has it all and will be a special player. He has great feet, quick, compact delivery and he makes great decisions. His ability to read progression as a freshman was fantastic and he will only get better.
