Top 5 NFL Head Coaching Vacancies

Black Monday has come and gone. With it, we now know which teams will need a new head coach for next season. No real surprises here – other than the coaches who didn’t get canned. With that being said, let’s take a look at the top 5 NFL head coaching vacancies of the 2026 NFL offseason!

1. Baltimore Ravens

• Projected Cap Space: $28,146,492 (17th in NFL)
• Top projected free agents: C Tyler Linderbaum, CB Chidobe Awuzie, S Alohi Gilman, TE Isaiah Likely, G Daniel Faalele
• First round picks (current projected draft picks): 14th overall (10 total)
• Key building blocks: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Derrick Henry, C Tyler Linderbaum, LB Roquan Smith, S Kyle Hamilton
• Analysis: They may have missed the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion, but this roster is built to compete for ‘chips. Lamar Jackson is one of the best players in the league, and might benefit from a new offensive scheme. Re-signing Tyler Linderbaum should be the top priority. The Ravens are a prestigious organization, and ownership has shown they are patient. The roster isn’t without holes, but the AFC North is very winnable.

2. New York Giants

• Projected Cap Space: $11,007,970 (20th in NFL)
• Key free agents: G Greg Van Roten, G/T Jermaine Eluemunor, WR Wan’Dale Robinson, CB Cordale Flott, S Dane Belton
• First round picks (current projected draft picks): 5th overall (7 total)
• Key building blocks: DL Dexter Lawrence, EDGE Brian Burns, T Andrew Thomas, WR, Malik Nabers, QB Jaxson Dart
• Analysis: The Giants have quality talent at key positions, and a top five pick. Dart is the key to this whole rebuild as the QB1. Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo are coming off of season ending injuries, but are young weapons any coach would love to work with. The offensive line may need reinforcements depending on what happens with Eluemunor and Van Roten. The NFC East is tough, but the foundation is there to move up in the standings with a good coach and off-season.

3. Tennessee Titans

• Projected Cap Space: $95,600,009 (3rd in NFL)
• Top projected free agents: G Kevin Zeitler, CB Darrell Baker Jr., TE Chigoziem Okonkwo, EDGE Jihad Ward
• First round picks (current projected draft picks): 4th overall (8 total)
• Key building blocks: QB Cam Ward, DL Jeffery Simmons, DL T’Vondre Sweat, C Lloyd Cushenberry, G Peter Skoronski
• Analysis: This was an ugly season in Tennessee, but they appear to have a quarterback worthy of developing. Simmons and Sweat are as good a defensive line duo as any in the league. The Titans have the 4th overall pick in the Draft, and $95 million to play with. With the right leadership, Tennessee can compete in the AFC South sooner than later.

4. Las Vegas Raiders

• Projected Cap Space: $100,800,635 (2nd in NFL)
• Top projected free agents: CB Eric Stokes, G Dylan Parham, EDGE Malcolm Koonce, LB Devin White
• First round picks (current projected draft picks): 1st overall (10 total)
• Key building blocks: EDGE Maxx Crosby*, RB Ashton Jeanty, TE Brock Bowers, G/C Jackson Powers-Johnson, CB Eric Stokes
• Analysis: This is a blank slate of a roster. Things look less appealing if Maxx Crosby is traded, but he should net a nice Draft pick haul. Having $100 million and the first overall pick gives the incoming regime solid ground to build on. Assuming the Raiders take a quarterback with the top pick, the rookie is going to have two young elite talents to work with in Bowers and Jeanty.

5. Atlanta Falcons

• Projected Cap Space: $28,526,819 (15th in NFL)
• Top projected free agents: TE Kyle Pitts, LB Kaden Elliss, EDGE Arnold Ebiketie, DL David Onyemata, RB Tyler Allgeier
• First round picks (current projected draft picks): None – 13th overall traded to Rams (5 total)
• Key building blocks: RB Bijan Robinson, WR Drake London, LB Jalon Walker, G Chris Lindstrom, CB A.J. Terrell
• Analysis: Outside of Baltimore, Atlanta has the most talent of any team needing a new head coach. Atlanta is in the closest position to contend for – at the very least – a division title as soon as next season. Bijan and London are elite playmakers, and Lindstrom is arguably the best guard in football. The defense has Walker, Terrell, Jessie Bates, James Pierce, and Xavier Watts. The major issues here: no first round pick (traded to the Rams in last year’s Draft), and questions at the quarterback position.
