The Grueling Truth - Where Legends Speak / Three Bold Predictions for the Raiders vs. Titans

Three Bold Predictions for the Raiders vs. Titans

Three Bold Predictions for Raiders-Titans!
Publish Date: 09/08/2017

Oakland Raiders' Marshawn Lynch (24) runs with the ball against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter of their NFL preseason game at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, Calif. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017. (Jose Carlos Fajardo/Bay Area News Group)

Oakland Raiders football is back!!! Well almost. We;re just days away from the return of Oakland Raiders football and first up on the schedule are the Tennessee Titans. Last year when these two teams faced, it was a tough test for the Raiders and surprisingly, it was the Oakland defense that helped lead the team to a win.

This year, an upgraded Titans will be looking for revenge. And much like the Raiders, Marcus Mariota and crew are seen as an up and coming team with a bright future, so you know this game means a lot for them as well.

And just like last year, I will be doing predictions before every game and keeping a tally as I go. So let’s get started with the first set of predictions:

1 – Marshawn Lynch runs for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns

In his debut with the Raiders and first game back after taking a year off from football, Marshawn Lynch will have a big game. Despite splitting carries with DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, Lynch will eclipse the 100 yard mark and score two touchdowns and do it in 15 to 18 carries.

That’s right, I’m expecting Lynch to average between six and eight yards per carry. No, it’s not a dig at the Titans run defense, it’s an announcement that the Raiders run game has arrived and it’s elite. Lynch looks to be close to his old form and will be running behind the best offensive line he’s ever had and on an offense that is loaded with weapons.

It’s a great opportunity for Lynch to thrive and thrive he shall.

2 – Karl Joseph creates at least one turnover and leads the team in tackles

Karl Joseph had a solid rookie season, but we’ve only seen a small amount of what he can do for this Raiders secondary. With his knee fully healthy and more importantly, with Joseph putting full trust in his knee, we can expect a lot more from the second year safety.

Known not only has a hard hitter but also a ball hawk in college, Joseph is going to show off that versatility this season. He only had one interception last season but this year, he will start off forcing turnovers in game one. Not guaranteeing it will be an interception, perhaps it will be a hard hit that jars a ball loose. But either way, Joseph is going to have a big impact on this game both with hard hitting tackles or ball hawking that leads to pass deflections and interceptions.
