You always hear the argument about the greatest coach in NFL history, but what about the greatest assembled coaching staff in NFL history?

Cowher would go on to win a Super Bowl in his career, Capers would lead the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance and Lebau is considered one of the greatest defensive coordinators in NFL history. Lewis won a Super Bowl as a Defensive Coordinator in Baltimore.

8) 2003 Philadelphia Eagles: HC Andy Reid, OC Brad Childress, DC Jim Johnson, LB Ron Rivera, DB Steve Spagnuolo, ST John Harbaugh, Asst. DB Sean McDermott

Harbaugh is the only coach on this staff that won a Super Bowl as a Head Coach but all of these men were accomplished NFL coaches.

7) 1992 Green Bay Packers: HC Mike Holmgren, Off. Asst. Jon Gruden, DB Dick Jauron, QB Steve Mariucci, TE/OL Andy Reid, DC Ray Rhodes

Holmgren and Gruden both went on to be Super Bowl winning Head Coaches and Reid has been a constant winner in the NFL as a Head Coach.

6) 1994 Cleveland Browns: HC Bill Belichick, DC Nick Saban, OL Kirk Ferentz

Not a huge staff of great coaches but right here you have maybe the greatest coach in NFL history, Bill Belichick, combining with maybe the greatest college coach in history. Throw in Kirk Ferentz, who has done a great job at Iowa, and you have an amazing staff. Look at it this way, they just didn’t get the Browns to the playoffs, they actually won a playoff game.

5) 1986 San Francisco 49ers: HC Bill Walsh, DC George Siefert, QB Mike Holmgren, WR Dennis Green, DB Ray Rhodes

This staff combined to win 6 Super Bowls and Dennis Green turned out to be a solid NFL coach. Rhodes was a very good assistant.

4) 1975 Cincinnati Bengals: HC Paul Brown, OC Bill Walsh, OL Bill”TigerJohnson, DL Chuck Studley

Two NFL legendary Head Coaches on the staff at the same time! Throw in Bill Johnson, who was an outstanding Offensive Line Coach, and Chuck Studley, who went on to be an excellent Defensive Coordinator, and you have a truly legendary coaching staff. The big question in Cincinnati will always be why did Brown pick Johnson to succeed him instead of Walsh?

3) 1962 San Diego Chargers: HC Sid Gillman, OC Al Davis, DC Chuck Noll

Three Hall of Famers on one staff is not bad and when you consider that Gillman was the father of the modern passing game, and Noll has to be in anybodies list of top 5 all-time coaches. That means they have to be high on this list.

2) 1958 New York Giants: HC Jim Lee Howell, OC Vince Lombardi, DC Tom Landry

One of the greatest innovative defensive coaches of all-time in Tom Landry combined with one of football’s great offensive minds in Vince Lomardi, has to put this list of coaches towards the top. Jim Lee Howell stayed out of the way and let these two great coaches work.

1) 1990 New York Giants: HC Bill Parcells, WR Tom Coughlin, DC Bill Belichick, LB Al Groh, DL Romeo Crennel, Asst. ST Charlie Weiss

This staff accounts for nine Super Bowl Championships between Parcells, Coughlin, and Belichick. Groh, Crennel, and Weiss were excellent assistant coaches.
