The most impressive player so far?
This, to me, is a no-brainer. Derek Carr has a below-average offensive line, and outside of Darren Waller, not a lot of weapons. Week 1 may not have been his most fantastic game, but with the Raiders struggling to stay in the game, Carr kept them in a position to win the game, and in the end, he did just that. Week 2 saw the Raiders in Pittsburgh against a Steelers team that was expected to beat them, and Carr balled out again and got a significant road win that makes you wonder if the Raiders are for real? The AFC West will make it challenging for the Raiders to continue their winning ways, but they have already beaten two teams that they were not supposed to win. Derek Carr is maybe the most underappreciated quarterback in the NFL.
Mike Zimmer has to be the coach on the hottest seat at the moment. The Vikings could easily be 2-0 at this point in the season but instead have lost two painful games. Zimmer is a damn good coach, but it seems his time is running out. The good news is that the division is not great, and the Vikings are talented enough to turn things around quickly.
Bengals(+3) will beat the Steelers. Why would I pick this? First, that’s easy Steelers injuries; trust me, it’s not because I think the Bengals are good. The Steelers defense is dealing with multiple injuries, but it does look like T.J. Watt will play, and with the Bengals offensive line going against Watt hell, Watt may be able to win the game by himself. Big Ben also looks to be a game-time decision with a chest injury, which could factor heavily into who wins this game. The Bengals defense has played well through the first two weeks, though, so I like the Bengals to win this game.
Daniel Jones vs. Atlanta. The Falcons defense is horrific, and Jones is coming off a strong performance in Washington. Jones can also get you points with his legs.
Najee Harris will be going up against a Bengals defense that has shut down Ty Montgomery and Dalvin Cook in the season’s first two games.
From what I am hearing, Odell Beckham has a great chance to play on Sunday, and that’s great news for a Browns offense that would suddenly look one-dimensional without Beckham or Landry.
Coaches were the reason this new rule was implemented, not Owners, as I have seen many people reporting. But, again, it’s a point of emphasis which means as the season goes on, the focus will drop, and a lot fewer of these penalties will be called, as we have seen in the past with points of emphasis.
Belichick will have four quarterbacks he has drafted, all starting in the NFL this week. Brady-Buccaneers, Brissett-Dolphins, Jimmy G.-49ers, Mac Jones-Patriots. I guess it’s safe to say that Bill knows quarterbacks.
The Dolphins are toast any way you look at it. They had more draft capital than just about any team you will see over the last few years but somehow have managed to screw it all up. In that same time or even less time, the Patriots rebuilt, and the Bills have become one of the best teams in the NFL. Luckily the Jets are still in the AFC East, so that the Dolphins won’t last for the next five years.
