The next big event on the NFL calendar is upon us! NFL Free Agency starts this week and we’ve got you covered here at The Grueling Truth with some possible landing spots.
March 7, 2017 – The official day when teams can “tamper” with free agents from other teams by opening talks in preparation for the official signing day.
March 9, 2017 4pm EST – Free Agency officially begins this Thursday and teams can begin signing players from other teams.
This list will not be exhaustive, but here are a few:
Peterson is on the wrong side of 30 and is coming off another significant injury. Minnesota is moving on, but there are a couple of teams where he could sign and make an impact.
New York Giants – The Giants just need a running game and their offense could be lethal.
Oakland Raiders – The Raiders could lose Latavius Murray and are very close to competing for a Super Bowl.
Prediction – Peterson signs with the Giants
Jeffrey has the size and speed that teams look for in a number one receiver and will likely sign elsewhere. While the Bears had a good conversation with Jeffrey over the weekend and have the necessary cap space, there are a few teams could give him more money than what the Bears might want to offer, like San Francisco, Tennessee, and possibly Philadelphia.
Prediction – San Francisco signs Jeffrey
The Redskins appear to be in a state of flux and could be moving on from a few of their veterans, including the speedy receiver. The Eagles and Buccaneers could be in the market for Jackson and both places would make sense for him.
Prediction – Jackson signs with Tampa
The Bengals could be moving on from Zeitler and could be a solid pickup for a couple of teams like Miami, Jacksonville, Minnesota and the Giants.
Prediction – Zeitler re-unites with Mike Zimmer in Minnesota
Calias Campbell (DE/DT- Cardinals)
Campbell (6’8, 300 lbs) is an absolute beast on the defensive line and could become an anchor for a contending team like the Raiders. If the Raiders team Campbell with Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin, Oakland’s defense will improve dramatically. The Broncos could also be looking to retool their defense as well.
Prediction – Oakland lands Campbell
Ryan is a high-impact corner that is unlikely to re-sign with New England. There are several teams that could use an upgrade at cornerback like Detroit, San Francisco, Cleveland and possibly Buffalo.
Prediction – Ryan signs with the Lions
The Bengals don’t seem to be showing a lot of urgency with Kirkpatrick, but a couple of AFC teams could be ready to lure him away from Cincinnati, including their hated rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans could also use a playmaker in their secondary.
Prediction – The Steelers sign Kirkpatrick
As is the case with other players, Bouye would be a big asset into any team’s secondary, especially rebuilding ones. He will likely get a big contract from Chicago, San Francisco, Cleveland, or the Jets.
Prediction – San Francisco upgrades their secondaryย by signing Bouye
Andrew Whitworth (T- Bengals)
He’s 35, but still serviceable and the Bengals will do what they can to keep him.
The Packers don’t dabble much in free agency and 2017 will be no different. They do, however, re-sign many of their own guys and Cook was a big part of their late-season run last year.
The Cowboys have cap issues, but will make Church a big priority.
Pryor had a good season and the Browns will want him back to build on last year.
