The Browns beat the Falcons 28-16 at First Energy Stadium for their first win in the Gregg Williams era and now sport a record of 3-6-1. I could not think of one topic to write about, so I have five takeaways for you.
Also, Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service!
My whole life has been basically trial and major error with the Browns searching for a quarterback. Never have I seen someone in a Cleveland uniform play as well as Baker Mayfield has this early in his career. Against the Falcons, he was 17-20 for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Those are some epic numbers. I said start Baker from the beginning, people got mad at me. He got his chance relatively early and has made the most of it. I am looking forward to the next decade.

I grew up watching Jamal Lewis on the Ravens absolutely torch the Browns defense year after year and then briefly actually play on our team. This rookie Nick Chubb reminds me of Lewis. He is a power back, but he has that second gear we all saw when he took it 92 yards for a TD against Atlanta. He finished the day with 176 yards on 20 carries. Trading Carlos Hyde was smart to give Chubb the bulk of the carries (Duke used as a pass catching back). 579 yards and five TDs on the season. Heโll sniff 1000 but probably fall just short. Wait โtill next year.

New Head Coach Gregg Williams has this team playing inspired football. They did not just beat a very talented Atlanta squad, but they absolutely destroyed them. The spirit of the team, from Baker Mayfield to the defense and really all 53 guys are really empowering to watch. I am glad Hue Jackson got fired and happy Todd Haley was not named interim. Williams has lit a fire under this team and I hope it lasts throughout the season, so the Brownsโ brass has to consider him for a full-time job.

Many fans will say that they wish the team could get right back on the field and carry on this momentum from the big win. I get that logic. However, having these two weeks to essentially celebrate is good for Browns fans and this team. They will be hard at work practicing, but with the energy from the win for an extra week. Come back on the 25th in Cincinnati and letโs kick the shit out of the Bengals because I, personally, cannot stand them.

Baker Mayfield. Denzel Ward. Nick Chubb. I could leave it at that, honestly. All three of those picks were not exactly looked at as sure-things like a Myles Garrett was the year before at #1. Dorsey has guts and used it with the guys he felt were right for this team and man each of them has played incredibly well so far this season. I cannot wait for next yearโs draft to continue building this team that is finally heading in the right direction. Great job, John.
