Browns running back Kareem Hunt requested a trade. However, Cleveland refused to make the deal amid a heated contract standoff.
Following a spring extension request, Hunt will enter the last year of his contract. Hunt returned to practice Sunday but only did individual drills during training camp. He is looking for a challenge and will be fined by Cleveland for missing team training. Check out the best betting sites for betting on the Cleveland Browns.
Hunt is believed to have refused to train to either force an improved contract or trade elsewhere. However, the Browns aren’t ready to grant Hunt either.
He did play a small role last season behind Nick Chubb, but it was mostly ankle and calf injuries that kept him from being prominent. He was a part of eight NFL games. He ran for 386 yards and scored five touchdowns.
The Kansas City Chiefs defined hunt’s career. There he not only became a Pro Bowler but also managed 1,782 yards of scrimmage and 11 touchdowns in his rookie season in 2017.
Although his career faced major challenges after CCTV footage showed him punching and kicking a woman in 2018, he was not charged with any crime. However, he was banned from playing for eight games. He has regained his reputation as a talented running back, earning him a $10.83million extension in 2020.
Hunt has always had issues off the field, but as we have seen with the Browns organization, they are not worried about how players conduct themselves off the field. If I was in the Cleveland Browns front office I would want to get rid of Hunt ASAP. He is simply not worth the trouble.
The Cleveland Browns are not worried about the character. They just want results on the field, and if Hunt is not going to play and just cause trouble, why even have him on the team?
