1) Calgary Stampeders
The Stamps are the unquestioned number one team in the CFL and a bye week will not change that.
Lewis Ward made seven field goals while Trevor Harris and Greg Ellingson connected for a fourth-quarter touchdown as the REDBLACKS chipped their way past the Edmonton Eskimos 28-15 on Saturday afternoon. The Redblacks have been impressive the last two weeks and they have the talent to challenge the Stampeders come playoff time.
The rematch of last season’s Eastern Final did not disappoint, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders came out on top against the Toronto Argonauts in an exciting 30-29 battle on Saturday night. The Riders overtook the Edmonton Eskimos for second place in the West division with the win, and the Argos dropped their fourth straight.
The Eskimos were throttled by a solid defensive performance by the Ottawa Redblacks which dropped them to third in the west.
The BC Lions mounted a comeback for the ages on Saturday night at BC Place, covering 59 yards in nine seconds to tie the game in regulation, then finishing the job on Ty Long’s game-winning kick in the second overtime period. The Lions are in the playoff hunt and things are getting interesting again in B.C.
The Ti-Cats continued their string of inconsistent play as they lost a heart-breaker to the BC Lions. That loss sets up a huge rematch at home this week for the Ti-Cats.
The Bombers beat the Alouettes but they still need to string a few wins together if they want to make the playoffs.
The Argos played better against the Roughriders but it wasn’t enough.
Johnny Manziel played but it still wasn’t enough. The Alouettes continue to play poorly.
