Round 1
1).Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Mason Woods, G/T, Idaho
The upcoming combine will tell us whether he has a shot to be the first selection in this draft. He is a giant at 6’9″ tall and looks more like a tackle than a guard. In college, he played guard, but the beauty of him is that I believe he will be a starting tackle who can play in an emergency at guard also.
2). Saskatchewan Roughriders
Jordan Herdman LB/Simon Fraser
I think the Riders should go offensive line here, but Herdman is a tackling machine and will be hard to pass up. Herdman will be a star in the CFL racking up tackles left and right.
3). B.C. Lions
Kwaku Boateng DE/Laurier
The Lions have to be hoping that Herdman falls in their lap, if he doesn’t I look for them to go here with their first round pick. They need a LB, but I don’t think there is another LB worth picking in the first round.
4). Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Danny Vandervoort, SB/McMaster
Vandervoort is quick, but he is just not quick he runs precise routes and has great hands. Andy Fantuz replacement? While it’s true Fantuz had a great season last year; it is also true that late last season he suffered an injury that makes it not a certainty that he will return to his previous form.
5). Edmonton Eskimos
Geoff Gray, OT/Manitoba
Gray can start right away for Edmonton; Gray was a beast at the East/West Shrine game. At 6’6″ and well over 300 pounds he is a young man that looks like you can draft him and then pencil him in for the next decade as a starter in the CFL.
6). Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Eli Ankou, DT/UCLA
This pick with give the Blue Bombers great depth on the defensive line and would give them multiple options on defence.
7). B.C. Lions
Connor McGlough, DT/Calgary
McGlough has a tremendous skill set and will be a success in the CFL.
8). Calgary Stampeders
Antony Auclair, TE, Laval
The biggest question here is do the Stampeders risk picking a guy that could end up in the states playing. The things Coach Dickenson and QB Bo Levi Mitchell could do with a guy like Auclair could be downright scary.
9). Ottawa Redblacks
Dariusz Bladek, OT, Bethune-Cookman
Not a desperate need here for the Redblacks, but I think Bladek will be too good to pass on here.
