CFL Week 14 Preview and Predictions

Week 13 had one close game and whole lot of beat downs. The Bombers, Alouettes, Argonauts and Stampeders all picked up wins. I went 3-1 straight up and 2-2 against the spread last week to get me to 36-14 straight up and 32-18 against the spread this season. This week there is just three games. Ottawa heads to B.C, Hamilton is in Calgary and The Riders host Montreal. Let’s see how I think the games are going to go. 

(3-8) Ottawa Redblacks @ (1-10) B.C. Lions Friday 10:00pm ET 

The Redblacks have looked terrible the past few weeks. They were dismantled by the Argo’s last week and there weren’t a lot of positives to take away from the game. This week they take on another team below them in the standings but if they play like they have been recently I fear another loss on the horizon for Ottawa. The Lions haven’t been much better but it seems like they are usually at least in most games that they play even if they are playing terribly. They lost a close one against Montreal last week but maybe have built some momentum going into this one. I’m taking the Lions to pick up their second win of the season. 

Prediction: Lions win 29-22 

(9-2) Hamilton Tiger-Cats @ (7-4) Calgary Stampeders Saturday 4:00pm ET 

The Ti-Cats have continued to roll without Jeremiah Masoli. It hasn’t been pretty but Dane Evans has gotten the job done under centre. This week Hamilton faces a tough test, they take on a Stamps team that seems to be rejuvenated now that star quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is back in the lineup. For Calgary they dominated Edmonton for two straight weeks and look to pull closer to the top spot in the West Division. The defence has been stellar and the offence looks to be working very well, as well. This week I see another win for Calgary. 

Prediction: Stampeders win 30-25 

(6-4) Montreal Alouettes @ (7-4) Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday 7:00pm ET 

The Alouettes continue to win this season and have looked good on both sides of the ball doing it. Their defence is stout and Vernon Adams and Co. have moved the ball nicely for the past few weeks. This week they are up against a Saskatchewan team with something to prove. The Riders got knocked around by the Blue Bombers last week. This week the Riders need to prove whether they are contenders or pretenders against a surprising Alouettes team. I think they are up to the challenge.

Prediction: Roughriders win 36-28

Ottawa @ B.C: Take B.C. -5.5

Hamilton @ Calgary Take Hamilton +7 

Montreal @ Saskatchewan: Take Saskatchewan -6 

This week there are a few playoff scenarios. With a win and a Ottawa loss the Tiger-Cats can clinch a playoff spot already. Calgary can pull within a game of Winnipeg for first in the west with a win and the Riders need a victory to stay up with the big dogs. It should be fun football to watch.
