9) Ottawa Redblacks
Last is a two-team race between Ottawa and Edmonton, and either deserves to be last. The difference right now is that Ottawa looked worse than Edmonton this past weekend.
8) Edmonton Elks
The Elks played well against Winnipeg, and that’s why they are not last. The game was tied going into the fourth quarter before Winnipeg’s superior far power on offense and defense sealed the game.
7) BC Lions
The Lions are in trouble; after a 39-10 loss to the Calgary Stampeders, the Lions have lost three straight home games. Next up, the Lions travel to Toronto to try to end this losing streak.
6) Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Tiger-Cats had a bye last week, and now they will host the Ottawa Redblacks.
5) Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Riders started the season out well, but that all changed when a series of three games in four weeks against their rival Calgary Stampeders started. Unfortunately, those first two weeks for the Riders were disastrous as they dropped two straight to Calgary. Coming off the bye week, the Riders will face Calgary once again, and they need to get a win to get the season back on track.
4) Montreal Alouettes
Matthew Shiltz racked up 303 total yards and two total touchdowns in the Montreal Alouettes’ 27-16 win over the Ottawa REDBLACKS. Next up, Montreal will try to pull into a first-place tie with the Argonauts as they travel to Toronto for the showdown.
3) Toronto ArgonautsΒ
A Toronto win over Montreal this week will put the Argos totally in control in the East. The set-up is perfect as the Alouettes are coming off a bye week, and they also host the game.
2) Calgary Stampeders
Bo Levi Mitchell is starting to play like himself again, which could spell trouble for the rest of the CFL. Mitchell was 22 of 32 passes for 270 yards with a touchdown.
1) Winnipeg Blue Bombers
It took until the fourth quarter until the Bombers put away a scrappy effort from the Elks. The Bombers defense clamped down in the fourth quarter as once again they allowed nothing in the fourth quarter.
